Received today in the mail an invitation for a complimentary Cathay Pacific's Marco Polo Gold membership...

I believe Centurion gets Platinum on CX but I've never heard of complimentary CX Gold from AMEX before.
I'm already Gold on QF so this I don't think I can get any use out of this however it would be great for Silver / Bronze on QF as it's like a free Qantas Club membership, isn't it?

Only question mark is re: timing - the invitation mentions "One Year complimentary Gold membership..." - I wonder if that's renewed at the end of the period as long as you keep the AMEX Charge Platinum...

They must have done a big deal for this, guess they wanted Centurion to get first pick though to make it seem a bit more exclusive.

Reports from the Centurion members are that it’s a 1-year only thing, so if you don’t need it right now, don’t take up the offer until you do…

Got one today too....not helpful for me as I'm QF WP til at least Oct 12, and SG until Oct 13. I suspect not, but wonder if I can use it for my supplementary card holder??

Add me to the list of those that received the invite in the mail today as well. Also hopeful that it can be used by a supplimentary card holder rather than me too.

Also received it - QFF Platinum for a while yet so not of great use, but I am moving to HK next year so it may come in handy then. :)

I am in a similar position, and so called and asked about using it for a supplementary. But alas, no. Primary cardholders only.

Maybe I don't rack up enough on my card so I haven't got an invite yet

I wonder if this is a sign that CX is getting more aggressive targeting the Australian market?

CX are a genuine premium airline - excellent service, and once they fix the reclining function in economy even Y will be good.

Im away at present did it come in snail mail??
is your amex plat a qantas one or a normal one?

It would give you CX Gold / OneWorld Sapphire, which would get you access to the Qantas Club when flying Qantas (and maybe Jetstar).

Not sure that it would apply in the case of that non one world airline, Jetstar. But you might get through.

I'll take a look at the offer if I get it (yesterdays mail was the latest "by invitation" offers.....)

Yeah, I’d heard it’s mixed, sometimes you can get in as an elite, other times you can’t. I recall it was an unwritten rule at one stage, though that may have changed when they discovered the lounges were too busy?

Haven't received any CX Gold offering in mail, however got a bunch of useless event invitation instead.
Hopefully this benefit is not targeted for certain card members only (I have platinum charge card).
