Qantas 737 Configurations (wiki content)

1. Overview

The 75-strong 737-800 fleets used by Qantas is Australian registered and used predominately for Domestic flights and short international flights to Asia-Pacific and New Zealand. 8 of these aircraft were previously New Zealand registered, operated by Qantas subsidiary JetConnect for Trans Tasman flights but transferred to the Australian register over 2017-2018. The fleet was upgraded over 2015-2017 to a slightly denser seating capacity, through the use of slimline toilets at the rear of the plane to add one extra row of Economy seats, new seat fabrics and a plastic divider replacing the curtain.

37 aircraft have Seatback Inflight Entertainment (both classic interior (14) and Boeing Sky Interior (23) types), while 38 have Q-Streaming for BYO devices using the Qantas Entertainment app (note this must be pre-downloaded on the customers device).

Inflight Internet WiFi is expected to be progressively added to these aircraft over 2017-2018 using the NBN SkyMuster satellite and currently is present in over half the fleet.

There are no current Boeing 737 aircraft on order. The likely replacement or expansion of this fleet is either from the Qantas Group 320/321-neo order or from a new 737-Max or 797 order.
