Hey there..

I am about to invest in some over-ear ear phones because my standard bud ones just hurt too much after hours of use.. I figure i may as well look at some entry level noise cancellation..

Does anyone have any of these and can they give me their thoughts and advice...

HushNoise i7
NoiseHush i7 Noise Cancelling Headphones [NH12174] - $109.95 : The Frequent Flyer Store, Travel Gear for Frequent Flyers

Audio Technica ATN-ANC27
Audio Technica ATH-ANC27 Headphones - DJ, PA & Live Sound - Over Ear Headphones - All Headphones | Harvey Norman Australia

Sony Entry
Sony Entry Noise Cancelling Headphones at $94.00 in Noise Cancelling Headphones

Tim

I haven't had any experience with the ones you listed, but I do have a pair of audio-technica anc7b that I got from amazon for under $140. They aren't quite as good as Bose at noise canceling, but the sound and comfort are great while being half the cost of the high end models.

I have a pair of the NoiseHush headphones. As for other replies, I don't have anything to compare them to, but the noise reduction is good when sat at my open-plan desk at work (their main use), even though it's not white noise. On that basis, I'd expect them to be good for flying too. The reduction is partially due to the isolation from the around-the-ear design, but switching the noise cancellation off and on also clearly shows a big difference. My only two complaints are (i) that the battery cover is very difficult to remove, and (ii) that I must have large ears because they get slightly uncomfortable after 3 or 4 hours, although minor regular adjustments help. At about 30% of the cost of Bose (last time I looked), I'm happy.

I'd strongly suggest going to a store to try all of your various options on for size before you flash the cash

I have the noise hush and for the price paid am happy. They are certainly not what I would call best quality but I could not justify Bose.

Most of my flying is short haul, if it was long haul I would have considered paying more for something better.

Agreed, the ANC7b are a great for the price!

Have had Audio Technica ATN-ANC27, find them most satisfactory.Use them on long haul flights and work really well. Slight draw back if you travel light as hard carry case is somewhat heavy and bulky.

I liked info on HushNoise i7, especially the folding capacity. seems most efficient and looks lighter to carry. JoyV

Save up and buy a pair of Bose. A few years ago I spent some time researching for a pair of noise cancelling earphones. I did what you did by buying a cheaper pair. It was a bad decision I regretted. Look a buying a pair in another country to save instead.

Or get real headphones- buy Sennheisers PXC 450s have amazing sound reproduction for NC cans.

So i settled on a pair... QC3's....

So how did i get there you may ask...

I walked into JB and was looking at the QC15's and i noticed a sticker on a SEALED box of QC3's that said 'Ex Demo - Make us an offer'

Walked up to the disinterested sales assistant, offered $200 and had a deal..

I get home and they were brand new, if they were demo's i cant see how!

Have had a little play - they are brilliant!!!

I was going to suggest eBay. They have the QC3 for about the same price.... but they are second hand. Well done on your purchase!

Well done, that is a bargain, very happy with my QC3s that are now a year old.

Not really adding to the discussion about headphones themselves, but if anyone is looking to buy I can highly recommend Headphonic. They're a Perth based online seller. I've been using them for years for headphones in both my personal and professional life (I'm a film and music producer, so I need the good stuff) and have always had great experiences with them. The service is fantastic, deliveries are fast, and Marcus really knows his stuff. The site also has a blog and forums if you want to ask his advice on anything.

Sorry if I'm being a shill - I don't mean to be. I have nothing to do with the business, it's just a really good shop where the knowledge and advice is going to be far greater than pretty much anywhere else you'd go.
