Just noticed this sale tonite at DJs:
Bose QC 3:$381.65
Bose QC 20: $322.15
Bose QC 15: $339.15

If you had signed up to this Amex promo:

...you could get up to another 20% off, and if you are going OS in the next 60 days and can do TRS, a set of QC15s could be had for as low as $240.49 if my maths has not failed me:mrgreen:

Interesting and timely post because I made exactly that calculation and bought the QC15s at Chadstone around 7.30pm this evening on the way home from the cricket.

Mind you your calculations are wrong. $339.15 less $50 = 289.15 less $30.83 GST refund = $258.32.

Let me walk you through my maths:). You buy 2 x$250 DJ gift cards using 2 different registered Amex cards, getting 2x$50 back...ie net 20% discount on purchases. GST on $339,15 is 339.15/11 = $30.83 refunded via TRS. Using one $250 DJ gift card completely and $89.15 from your second $250 DJ gift card (leaving $160.85 for another use) to purchase the $339.15 headphones means you are effectively getting a 20% discount on $339.15 which is $67.83. Net cost of headphones is $339.15 - $30.83 - $67.83 = $240.49  but your maths are correct if you don't purchase 2 x$250 DJ gift cards;)

Thanks for the heads up! Been looking at a set of these for years now and perhaps this is the time :)

I don't know how the credit works, but I don't think the credit is applied straight away and thus I don't think the % cannot be collected till after all is said is done.

I got an email saying the $50 credit will be applied in about 5 days which will be before the end if the statement period. The TRS credit is obviously not applied to you claim when you are leaving the country.

Ok fair enough. I had only registered one card. The other thing of course these days if you purchase any other clothing from DJs and wear it onto the plane or carry it in hand luggage you can also claim back the GST even if you buy it on another day.

i had a look at the menswear but there was nothing I wanted.

My local DJs was open last night till 2400 so I had a good look around in peace:shock:...I couldn't really find a lot to buy given I'm off to US in 2 weeks where clothing etc will be a lot cheaper! PS I already own a OC15 (purchased a couple years back from the US for around USD$300) so didn't purchase another one from DJs, altho. was tempted! Really posted this for the benefit of others!

This is very tempting...flying to AKL on the 1st..time to look how TRS works...

Essentially the GST back on almost anything valued at over $300 that is taken with you out of the country, purchased in the last 60 days.

Its over $300 at one store, so you can have multiple smaller items totalling over $300, bought on different days.

Here's a curly one...what about david jones across brisbane and sydney? Same trading name :)

It has to be the same store according to the FAQs.

TRS - frequently asked questions
The refund will be paid on goods costing $300 (GST inclusive) or more, bought from the same store, no more than 60 days before you depart Australia. You may purchase several lower-priced items from the one store, either at the one time or over several occasions within the 60 day period, provided the total purchases amounts to $300 (GST inclusive) or more

Store being defined as the one ABN entity, not physical location:

Travellers can submit more than one tax invoice to make their claim, as long as each is a valid tax invoice from the one Australian Business Number retailer and the total value of goods purchased is $300 or more (including GST).

I'm seriously tempted by the QC20i's but I think I will just buy them here in the US as I'd like them for the return tripYVR-HKG-BNE-SYD and will donate my QC15's to mini-me who can sleep with them on :)

I have both and have been impressed with the IC20's...best feature is size and portability.
You will need the QC15's adaptor for headset plugin as not supplied...BE WARNED!
Should try and get them via AMAZON\EBAY while over there or TRS(is that possible at YVR??)
Remember lifespan on QC20 is max 3 years with LI Battery "currently non replaceable.
I actually find I can hear people around me conversations due to blocking out humming noise of aircraft.....very entertaining:cool:

I like my QC15s except:1) bulky to carry in carry on bag 2) I can't sleep with them on as I like to sleep on my side

I think 3 years refers to getting the maximum 16 hours use...after that, despite fully being charged, your maximum use starts to drop off! found the ref. for this:
The lithium ion battery is not replaceable. The battery is expected to maintain its full capacity (16 hours of customer use per charge) through 500 charging cycles. For a heavy user who charges roughly every 2-3 days, this would be equal to about 3 years of use. After 500 charging cycles, the battery will continue to recharge and operate the headphone, but the capacity would be reduced. This deterioration in capacity is common to all lithium ion batteries.

i seem to be convincing myself to get a pair of QC20s...:oops::confused:

Hi, has anyone seen these prices at a David Jones in Sydney? Both Warringah Mall and Chatswood Chase DJs have them at the normal price.
