Fly Virgin Australia and get 10% of ticket value on Virgin Mobile Credit

Whilst this is not exactly new, the last thread on this was like 3 years ago where you get 5% mobile credit on value of flights booked.

I signed up Virgin Mobile on post paid contract 4 months ago on $29 plan, and I booked return SYD-ADL ticket on DJ using the link for $340 (it was late booking on peak hours travel), and entered my mobile number. My latest Virgin Mobile statement I got $34.00 mobile credit. So I ended up getting this month free which is great. I will try to stick with flying DJ because of this.

So if you are already on Virgin Mobile consider flying on DJ to get free credit, especially VA domestic is getting upgraded! Of course you earn Velocity points on Virgin Mobile as well!

Re: Fly Virgin Australia and get 10% of ticket value on Virgin Mobile Credit

I've just gotten about $350 worth of credit for my travels in the past few months.

Well I actually credited all the travel with the family too, and no problems there for multiple bookings.

It's good logging into my account and seeing all the credit there, it's a quarter of my iPhone contract.
My service also credits Velocity points to my account, but it really isn't much.

A few of you could definitely get several free iPhones with all the travel you do.;)

Ditto... Ahhh... All those phone bills we haven't had to pay

My SGS contract is basically paid off. Woot!

Link does not appear to work

Virgin Mobile said:
You haven't been paying me enough attention!

We're sorry but your session has been idle too long and for security reasons has been timed out.
Please go back to the start and try again.
If the problem continues please call the Virgin Mobile Team on 1300 555 100

Is this promotion still going? I have just signed with Virgin Mobile for 2 years on a $29 plan but the way I understand this promotion is I do not get any money back but rather additional credit on top of the $450 credit per month. Not much use really as the intention is not to get anywhere near $450/month spend.

Re: Fly Virgin Australia and get 10% of ticket value on Virgin Mobile Credit

What happends if your Virgin Mobile account is in credit say $1000? Can you use this towards products like handsets?

Re: Fly Virgin Australia and get 10% of ticket value on Virgin Mobile Credit

Log into your account on virgin mobile: https://www.virginmobile.com.au/selfcare/MyAccount/login.jsp
There you should see a link for flight bookings, click on it and follow the instructions. I believe it uses a tracking cookie to follow your booking.

You'll get the $$ as a credit on your next bill. So if you spend $300 on a flight, your mobile bill in a few months will credit you with $30 off the bill (not $450 credit limit), so you don't pay anything at all.

Don't forget to link your phone account to velocity for the points + bonus, even if it is a pitiful 100 points a month, its all automatic anyways: Earn Points with Utilities, Insurance and Finance Partners | Velocity Frequent Flyer

You should be, my old account was in credit when the plan finished and they moved all the credit over onto my new plan.

Just get the handset, then cancel the contract using the credit to pay the remaining contract length.

LEts say you walk into a store and want to purchase a phone outright, can you use account credit?

Re: Fly Virgin Australia and get 10% of ticket value on Virgin Mobile Credit

I don't see why not.

Tell them you want to open a new contract on your current account which has the credit. Then tell them you want to cancel the contract right as soon as you get the phone and use your credit on the account to pay off the contract.
You could even just keep the account active and give the number to someone else (not-tech savvy mums are dangerous because my my mum decided to rack up like $300 bucks worth of excess calls on mine.....) since the phone will be unlocked anyways (I think).

Well that would be what I would do.

Best ask them though to confirm.

Thanks.

I will wait until I have the Virgin Mobile kit and book some flights and I have also linked my Velocity account to the plan.

Looking back there was an initial 10K bonus deal in 2008 - now expired.

Looks like even then, points did not always post easily:
http://www.australianfrequentflyer....alia-velocity/virgin-mobile-points-16584.html

Anyway I took the plunge and ported two services across to Virgin Mobile 10 weeks ago. From the above T&C's I was prepared to wait at least 60 days.

The first points have just appeared in my account - one lot for each service - but based on the second months invoicing, not that of the first month. Of course, neither have either of the two lots of 4K.

Looks like a call is in order.

Don't forget to book all Virgin flights via Virgin mobile member area to recieve 10% mobile bonus credit.

"Book with us and fly with our friends Virgin Australia, Pacific Blue or Polynesian Blue and you'll get a bonus credit to your mobile account based on the base price of your ticket"

And it’s not limited to one ticket either – book up to 4 tickets for friends or family.

Takes about 1-2 months to appear as a credit on phone bill.

Mine didnt post either, I just did an online missing points claim through the velocity website and it posted within 2 days.

I think I had to do an online claim too. Did it both for virgin mobile (via call centre) and velocity (online form) - not sure which one triggered it but it came through.

I've only had to pay for like 4 bills so far for my iphone contract - 18 months in or something I think. It's a nice little saving.
Best bit is you don't even need to be flying, as long as it is your contact details u get the credit.

Now the cough bit ... I can't get the 4000 point bonus and keep my old account number when my contract runs out (conveniently when iphone5 comes out!) according to T&Cs... BOO!

When i upgraded from iphone 3G to iphone 4 with same number taking out another 24 month contract got 4,000 bonus points

10% credit 'cashback' sounds like quite a good deal. Any notable caveats?
It's on the fare - not the 'taxes'.

In the end it's about ¹/[SUB]11[/SUB] discount (almost like GST - except the GST input credits are now ¹/[SUB]11[SUP]th[/SUP][/SUB] of the ¹º/[SUB]11[/SUB][SUP]th[/SUP]'s).

It (supposedly) shows up as a credit on your 'phone bill up to 60 days after travel.

Re: Virgin Mobile/Velocity: 4,000 bp's, 3per$ and 10% fare rebate - posting experince

The points come through fine, never a problem, they post like clockwork each money.

On the other hand, after 7 years of flying with them, the 10% rebate has never processed for me. Not once.

Yeah, and I'm allowed to say this after 6 years of enduring their "service" ...

Virgin Mobile have poor coverage, woeful data speeds and hopeless customer service.

But apart from that they are great ;)
