As seen on AUSBT.com.au
“Watch this space – something very big is going to happen with BP next year, that’s all I can say,’’ Schuster said in his first interview earlier this year.""

Would anyone like to speculate as to what this big thing might be?

I'd hoped that the rumoured big announcement wasn't just a change to the BP link-up but something more exciting

The question is, what could it possibly be that is worth building up hype for?

The only options that come to mind are:

* Some tie in with Velocity Accelerate for corporate fleets
* Paying for fuel with points
* Status bonuses for Velocity members, increasing earn rates for members above Red
* Some small contribution to Status Credit earn with spend (the contribution would surely be tiny, as it is with Etihad and their Flybuys tie-up)
* Exclusive retail or fuel deals for Velocity members

I suspect that the "something very big" is going to be focused on supporting membership number growth as opposed to rewarding existing members. The 4 cents / litre discounts that many people place disproportionate importance on is a pretty clear indicator of the sort of thing likely to happen.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If it is status credits I hope they are worth it.
Today I purchased 148L of fuel at $0.92 after discounts. The local BP was asking $1.11
That's why I don't buy my fuel from BP.

How did you get fuel down to $0.92?

I reckon you're right. It'll be "big" for VA. For existing members? I literally can't think of a thing that would fit his hyperbole.

I have the same issue, BP is always the most expensive fuel in my area. I am also waiting for bonus points from an October special. I have not bought BP since then.

Didn't you get your bonus? Several stated that theirs did a few weeks ago.

Not in SA myself but imagine Caltex with 4c WW discount +in-shop purchase discount + 5% WISH card (as well as Plat Edge 3 Amex MR/$ and some Myer points)

if he really did give the interview early this year, the we have to wait for another year to find out what the something big is - given he says next year (actually, I think the interview happened last year....)

Pump price $1.06!!!!

$1.29 was about the best I've seen in Brisbane. Maybe a couple of cents cheaper, but when will someone break the two retailer control?

I noticed that and contacted VFF when mine did not. They asked for a copy of the email and BP receipts. These were sent. Subsequent email acknowledging they had the details and stating "
I have escalated this matter to our support team for further review. We will be in touch upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Still waiting

That's disappointing

Pump price $1.06
$0.04/L Coles voucher
$0.10/L for in store spend. I exchanged an LPG bottle.
So $0.14c off per litre.

So not a standard purchase?
Saving was quite big none the less
