I've managed to successfully do a couple of Velocity Award flights (on phone to VA) on Hawaiian which is booked in "T" class on HA flights.

This time I wanted DL so I called up VA to find out the award class on DL which is "N" class then checked in Expert Flyer for availability. Found the date I wanted & called VA back to book it. Now whilst they could see the flight I wanted had one N class seat left, Sabre would not let the CSA select that flight & proceed with the booking.

He seemed to think maybe DL was slow with updating their availability on E/F site but I would think that a GDS would be able to see accurate availability on DL real time.

So despite him seeing the 'N' seat there, whatever their process is would not allow him to proceed and actually select the seat & make the booking. He did say he'd done a successful booking LAX/JFK earlier in the day without a hitch but I was looking for NRT/GUM.

Anyone else had any problems like this?

Did you try E/F from a UK perspective? ... or perhaps do a dummy booking using DL. Tried Award nexus?

I would say the issue would be Velocity does not have a fare loaded for DL NRT/GUM hence they cannot complete the booking.

Serfty I can only change the point of sale default to the UK in a 'flight availability' search. If I put 'N' class into this search it tells me to use 'award availability' search & you don't then have the 'point of sale' default option available to you.

It may just be a coincidence but DL have withdrawn award upgrade availability from E/F but this would just be for premium cabins if I was a DL Sky Miles big kahuna that wanted to use an award certificate to upgrade from whY to J or F would it not?

I understand that sometimes different markets eg UK may be able to see certain seats available whilst the US may not however the VA CSA was in agreement that he could actually see the 'N' class seat I was seeing but 'the system' would not allow him to select it & proceed to the next step in order to finalise the booking.

ExpertFlyer.com - Empowering the Frequent Flyer

[h=2]Changes to Delta Upgrade Visibility[/h]Delta has unfortunately chosen to remove all of their upgrade inventory from the GDS reservation systems, and as such it is no longer available in ExpertFlyer at this time. This is after previously being told by Delta over the course of many years that upgrade inventory would continue to be made available. We believe that this applies to all those who use a GDS, such as travel agents, and is not unique to ExpertFlyer. As such all Flight Alerts for the affected upgrade classes will be set to Expired as to not count against your active alert limit. Please note that all other Delta information in ExpertFlyer is unaffected by this change.
We agree with the sentiments of our customers that ultimately this does more harm than good to their best customers and suggest that you contact Delta and express to them how you feel about the ability to see, evaluate and use these various upgrade inventories and the value it adds to your elite status with Delta. Please use the following link to email them.
