Sounds great! I actually enjoy CX Y much better than QF or BA , so I can only imagine what their Y+ will have to offer.

I think with a 2-4-2 seat arrangement there is a consistency in comparing with the existing (and competing) products.

The proof of concept will be in the comparative pricing. Y vs W vs J cabins at the various flexibility levels. I made it clear in my comments to CX user relations that I would almost certainly take a non-flexible W over a flexible Y anyday.

Obviously dependent on pricing etc I would certainly look to use CX over BA and QF for whY+ on personal trips. I like pretty much every aspect of the CX product (in J) from boarding, in flight, transit in HKG (favourite transit airport) to arrival. The only thing that I struggle with is the average check in in SYD (compared to CX in HKG or QF in SYD) and the food is variable.

Cathay Pacific to launch Airbus A330 Premium Economy Class from Mar 2012 | AIRLINE ROUTE

Cathay Pacific is continuing the roll-out of yet to be announced Premium Economy Class, this time on Airbus A330-300 aircraft (along with Boeing 777-300ER/77G aircraft, see report on 20AUG11). The A330-300, dubbed as “33G”, is now accepting reservations although there are no designated booking code for Premium Economy.
The 33G is configured in J38Y28Y175, total capacity 241. Initially the A330-300 (33G) will operate service to Sydney 5 times a week, and Singapore once a week, starting 01MAR12.
Planned operation and screenshot of seat map from the airline via Sabre as of 0300GMT 23AUG11 as follows:

Hong Kong – Singapore eff 01MAR12 CX739/734 Day 4
Hong Kong – Sydney eff 01MAR12 CX101/100 Day x13 from HKG, Day x24 from SYD
Hong Kong – Shanghai Pu Dong eff 06MAR12 CX360/369 Day 2
Note these routes and specific flights and operational days are subject to change. Also, service within Asia may only offer Premium Economy Class seating, but not the inflight service will be standard Economy Class.

Well... The ball is back in QF's court. Especially if HKG-regional Oz gets the same planes....

Has anyone seen a seat map for an A330 with a premium economy section (33G)? I'm flying on one in July and don't know whether to choose a bulkhead seat in Y or the next seat back.

The latest is http://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/aircraft_type/imageFolder/ffa330_300_2c_a.gif but no sign of PE… you might be able to work out where they’d start and stop it from that though?

Thanks Sam, I did manage to find some seat maps of the pre-premium economy layouts but nothing to recommend or not a bulkhead seat - there may not even be a bulkhead. Current seat recommendation sites indicate the front of Y is not great so I wonder if this applies also to W.

Here are the seat maps from the online Cathay seat allocation system for my flight:

I think rows 30-33 are W, and Y starts from 39. I have 40H "on request"...
