Okay, check out below and tell me I'm not crazy. I'm looking for cheap seats so I go to Zuji because Travelocity (who own Zuji) won't accept bookings from a NZ IP. I look for a return flight from Paris to NY. BA is the cheapest, stopping at LHR first. Great, I actually could skip Paris and go to NY from LHR. So I look for a return flight from London to NY. And up pops the Air France option - which goes via Paris! WTF!!
Is it the airlines or Zuji stuffing me around? You'd think BA could match their ex-Paris seat price if leaving from LHR, and ditto for AF. :confused:

Paris, France to New York, NY
BA: Paris/London/NY return
2 Adults = NZD 826.00
1 Child = NZD 413.00
Service Fee = NZD 63.00
Subtotal = NZD 1302.00
Wed, 03 October Wed, 10 October

London, UK to New York, NY
AirFrance: London/Paris/NY return
2 Adults = NZD 988.00
1 Child = NZD 494.00
Service Fee = NZD 75.00
Subtotal = NZD 1557.00

Welcome to the world of airline economics. This is not a zuji thing, they are just an agent.

For the Paris to NY market, AF is the local airline which BA is competing against. BA has to offer some incentive to get passengers to fly with them, to compensate for the extra flight time and hassle of the extra leg through London. Hence Paris-London (without stopover) - NY may be cheaper than London-NY.

Similarly, AF needs to offer some incentive for London-NY passengers to take the detour via Paris. So London-Paris (without stopover)-NY may be cheaper than Paris-NY.

Simple supply and demand.
