Being required to jet off to KUL at the end of next month, I am looking at the options of getting there using OW as much as possible. Zuji shows that there is negligible difference between going direct (on MH) or going through SIN on QF.

My question is regarding the use of Zuji and multiple airlines. If Zuji books the whole itinerary on one ticket (it seems to do so on a dummy booking), using carriers that are not interlined (QF and MH), and the op misses the connecting flight, is it up to the main airline (in this case QF) to re-arrange the op onto another flight? Or because there are 2 different airlines involved, it is up to the op to re-arrange their travel to their final destination?

Thank you in advance:!:

As far as I know, Qantas and Malaysia do have an interline agreement. If for some reason you missed the connecting flight, you should be able to get it sorted out in Singapore.

I even think it likely that the fare you are getting is a Qantas fare, which by necessity has to use another airline, whether it be JL,SQ or MH to get you from SIN-KUL.

Thank you oz_mark. I wasn't aware QF and MH had an interline agreement but that would make things much easier on the way back.

Has anyone used the JL721 service before? What can I expect, mainly how does a JL767 compare to a QF767?

I've wondered about something similar and this may be a good time to clarify it: if there was no interlining agreement, what happens if a connection is missed?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

From PER you have the option to take QF to SIN (QF77) and JAL to KUL (JL721), going all the way on OneWorld carriers.

The return would require an overnight in SIN if using the JL flight back to SIN. But that does allow you to use the daytime return to PER on QF72.

I can't help with the Zuji part.

I've done it before and would do it again. Just be aware that some of the cheaper fares on JAL don't credit to QFF and you may well get one of those from Zuji. Not that you get much any way - it is quite a short flight from SIN-KUL.

The 767's look (and probably are) newer than the Qantas 767's.

I don't know the in and outs of ticketing, but I would doubt that Zuji would be able to ticket it on a single ticket.

Thats why I was a tad miffed in the first place. The entire dummy booking came under the Qantas booking reference, and the MH flight showed up in the QF booking. I was thinking 1 booking reference equals one ticket.

It should have been a Qantas booking. Qantas publish a number of fares from Australia to South East Asia to places that they don't fly. You will see something like this in the fare conditions:

THE FARE COMPONENT MUST BE ON
ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING
ANY QF FLIGHT
ANY BA FLIGHT
ANY JQ FLIGHT
ANY JL FLIGHT OPERATED BY JL
ANY CX FLIGHT OPERATED BY CX
ANY MH FLIGHT OPERATED BY MH
ANY SQ FLIGHT OPERATED BY SQ
ANY MI FLIGHT OPERATED BY MI
ANY 3K FLIGHT OPERATED BY 3K.
