Hi Renato where are you living in Italy. We have hired a camper 7 times and are going again in 21. We always park up at Area sosta campers sites. Have never been booked(Yet) and the best way to drive is exactly like the Locals. I know When in Roma.
We're living next to Bassano del Grappa. We drove up to Monte Grappa today.

You are much braver than me driving a camper around here. I've decided something the size of my KIA C'eed is as big as I'm going to drive over here.
Cheers,
Renato

I got a LTZ fine from Sardinia, Italy, arrived in mail a full year later, have yet to pay it, not sure I will.

We never saw the signs over there, knew nothing about them.

Was a rental car & they never had any correspondence with us, fine came directly to us. Has incorrect names on fine & neighbour dropped it to us as slightly incorrect address.
Pretty lucky. Normally the car hire place gets the fine, and pays it for you.
Regards,
Renato

Cancelling the credit card will only delay things a little. They still have your name and address and will send you the fine/s and at worst you will get a letter from "Equitalia" (debt collection agency). Recently if these letters are undelivered/unanswered Equitalia has been engaging a local bailiff as by this stage the original fine is now worth 10 to 15 times it's original value.

Thanks for that most informative piece.

Just remember, as Italians say:
In Milan, a traffic light is an Instruction.
Rome - it's a Suggestion.
In Naples, it's a Christmas decoration!

We knew about it and had no issues dealing with it. When we stayed at hotels located in "the zone" they worked out all the paperwork behind the scenes and we were free to do whatever.

Did you provide numberplate in advance and they register it?

No advance notice of the car or numberplate, we just rocked up and they took note of the details and sorted it. We didn't have to sign anything, or complete any paperwork - totally seamless. The passes were good for multiply access, not just one in and out.

We've stayed at lots of hotels where this was provided, they all operated the same way.

Lucky you Renato. Basssano del Grappa is a pretty town.

The train and bus services are good. AA4ED419-D371-4CE6-80C5-69E92017CB78.jpeg
