I'm going to be in Europe in September and while there, I'm planning to take a flight on a Zeppelin.

These are offered out of Friedrichshafen, on the German shore of Lake Constance. I've visited the area previously and saw the Zeppelin museum, and the modern zeppelins flying silently out over the lake, but I didn't have time to take a flight.

The operators use true rigid hulled zeppelins and take off from the airfield outside town before doing one of a number of different routes over Lake Constance or into the Austrian alps.

So, onto my question for the forum, has anyone done this and able to comment on the experience? It's reasonably expensive, with a 60 minute flight costing EUR470 per seat. Family of 4 travelling so it gets up there.

Appreciate any feedback before I pull the trigger.

Sorry, never done it but sound great

Hi There
I have been on board. I recall it wasn't cheap and I was on a 20-minute flight which went over the small city that I forget the name off.
I also thought very expensive, though you only live once! Also, you are likely not to be in that part of the world again.
Their facilities both on the ground and in the air are very modern and professional. You can move around the cabin once in the air and plenty of opportunities to take pictures. As you can see from my picture you can see right into the coughpit, whilst in the air, which is also a great experience for us aviation enthusiasts!
I would recommend. If cost is an issue maybe consider the shorter flights.

This is now booked! Trip report will follow in October.

We’ve gone with a 45 minute flight out of Friedrichshafen out over the northern part of the lake and returning over the vineyards and castles at Meersburg.
