As diamond members, my partner and I can't seem to decide which Hilton to stay at for a big of R&R mid this year without going as far as Europe/mainland USA. She is a bit weary of current travel warnings to Thailand & Malaysia etc and I am a little on the cheap side which rules out the Maldives. Where would you go? Ideally, we would like to leave Australia but if you can make an argument for an AU or NZ Hilton then please feel free! Thanks!

+1 and I have enjoyed the Hilton AKL. Fabulous location.
Just make sure you get an ocean/harbour view room and not a car park view.

No lounge when we were there but did get a couple of bar vouchers.

AKL itself was a fabulous place to visit.

Are you considering other Hilton family properties too (i.e. Conrad)? Although technically not SE Asia, we had a great time at Conrad Macau ... short stay using points. Couple that with a stay at Conrad Hong Kong could be a nice little break.

Have recently visiting Conrad HKG but had not considered Macau so will check it out thanks!

HH Millenium BKK is probably my favourite HH, but as Thailand and Malaysia are both out ...

Is China too far to travel? HH Wangfujing in PEK treated us well and I like the hotel a lot despite its uninspiring entry ... inside its a lovely hotel with great staff and the close area has some interesting stuff to look at. There a WA just around the corner too if that was more your thing though I cant comment as I've not stayed there.

Otherwise, if we're talking really close but still int, maybe conrad bali? I'm more tempted by the new HH Bali Resort at Nusa Dua tbh, but as I've not stayed there I can't comment. Conrad Bali treated us well, and, despite having some age, I found it quite lovely for a week or so by the pool in classic r&r style.

Depends on what you like, if it's total R&R (doing absolutely nothing), Conrad Bali and Hilton Bali Resort would be my pick based on enjoyment of facilities and benefits the hotel has to offer Diamond members, etc. I would actually split my stays across both resorts for a bit of variety - only cost about $6 taxi to get from one to another.

Conrad Macau is extremely generous with their Diamond upgrades but not sure about the R&R bit but again, it's pretty easy to split stays between Conrad HKG and Macau.

I second dajop's suggestion!
Conrad Macau gives fantastic upgrades, the lounge is superb (both food and service) and breakfast in the restaurant has so much variety with various food/cooking stations.

Cairns Hilton is pretty good as long as it's not in the middle of summer.

The good rooms look across to the east and the lounge looks across to the west.

I think you need to try the refurb. Conrad Bora Bora and let us all know what it's like! There were some reasonable point redemptions, but last I looked, they were getting pretty thin on the ground.

Fiji? The Hilton run property on Denarau was good to me. Upgrade to a beachfront suite, complimentary full breakfast and quite a pleasant place to stay. Especially on a Points and Pay rate!

Thanks for all the responses. We are still struggling to make up our minds but seem to have it narrowed down to Conrad/Hilton Bali, Hilton Fiji and Conrad Macau (pools look a little small?).

I'll be in BKK later this year. Whats so good about Millenium? Would you stay there if you had the pick of hotels in bkk ?

If you are after the pool, you would definitely enjoy what Conrad Bali and Hilton Bali Resort have to offer (try the water slides at Hilton, it's great fun). When I was at Conrad Macau in winter, they had their pool closed and directed guests to the Holiday Inn facilities next door and yes, its not that big.

It's my fav of all the Hiltons in BKK too, especially if you are on a holiday and there's no rush to get anywhere. It has fantastic views and more relaxing feel to it than the other Hiltons. Also, I find the afternoon tea and evening canapés to be better with the additional benefit of the expansive views. The hotel boat shuttle across the river is quite enjoyable too which takes you straight to their monorail station.

Conrad Bali has recently devalued perks for diamond/gold members. eg, no upgrades to suites.
Hilton Bali currently has their lounge closed for renovations. Still ironing out lots of issues.
Conrad Macau has apparently opened up their lounge to non diamond members (lounge was strictly diamond members only).

My choice of the 3 would be Macau still. Amazing upgrades.

Where's that info from on Bali? Still getting suites on my side but it's always been hit and miss for others.

Same here, was upgraded to the Conrad Suite 2 weeks ago. The Hilton Bali exec lounge's renovation should be completed, was advised it would be ready by end of last week. I find that it's good to spend 2-3 nights at Conrad/Hilton as after 3 nights, the exec lounge provisions could get a bit boring.

Earlyriser, if M'sia is back on your list, you can't go wrong with DT Kul, superb redemption value and very generous with upgrades too.

Yes, which is good enough for me but the other half read the second paragraph under the summary here: Smartraveller.gov.au - Malaysia

Tbh, I'd take any excuse to get 5 nights in KL for 40K points if I could.
That's a great pity. I feel far safer from violent crime in KUL than I do in SYD, MEL, DPS, most places really! Petty crime (pickpocketing, overcharging etc) is higher but you can be clever about that and avoid the vast majority.
