You know what really grinds my gears...

The cabin supervisor should of insisted that she take her allocated seat for which she was entitled to. If she didn't comply, I would have had ground staff offload her. Simple. The CS took the easy way out IMO and made other guests uncomfortable in the process.

Yes that balances the aircraft ....do it or leave

All things aside (and I think people are being a little harsh) has anyone stopped to think that perhaps this lady did indeed pre-allocate 5A and when she turned up to airport she has been given/could only get boarding pass for 18C?

This has happened to me 3 times in past 6 months and just quietly it is not good enough.

I still want to know whether she was actually holding an OLCI boarding pass for 5A - the seat she claimed she had as it would have stated 'economy' not 'business' on the b/pass.

I wonder if she's been on a 734 previously that had 20/120 config where row 5 was J on that flight & she just assumed incorrectly that row 5 on this a/c was J also.

Being only NB she obviously doesn't travel that often & is probably some staffer for a govt dept filled with her own self importance who enjoys riding on the coat tails of others.

It was a self check-in pass (the fax paper type).

At no stage (from what I saw) was an OLCI boarding pass produced when I witnessed the person at the gate and on board the aircraft.

Also, remember I mentioned at the gate, the person was complaining that she wasn't in J and should have been. Now this may have been a misunderstanding, as you previously mentioned, that maybe she had of flown on the 734 before and was expecting the convertible seat (which was in Y mode).

Not withstanding the previous comments about having a pre-selected seat changed on you (no seat is guaranteed as stated by QF) the behaviour of this person was completely out of line, and in my opinion, should not have been rewarded.

Sitting in J, yours truly would have gone out of his way to publicly denigrate the DYKWIA. Confrontation and conflict can be highly effective and are a pair some people have to grow.
Indeed. It is a lesson well worth learning.

And yet, when we are considering role models to be held up as examples for humanity, the same names rise up in discussion. Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa, Jesus, the Buddha...

Hitler and Kim Jung Il are rarely mentioned.
