1. You’ve flown in a class that is NOT economy.
2. You’ve crossed a road in Hanoi, on foot.
3. You’ve stood amongst the pyramids on the Giza Plateau.
4. You’ve planted something and seen it grow to be taller than you.
5. You’ve watched a sunrise without having slept the night before.

What are yours?

(five only please and as this is AFF, at least one must be flying/travel related!)

Done all that.

So what's next???

Edit: I now opt for a slightly quieter life when travelling.

1. You've run for a plane and just made it.
2.
You've had a complimentary upgrade.
3. You have had an experience along the lines of "it wasn't planned but I just went with it and now it's one of my favourite memories of X"
4. You've flown a carrier and decided "never again".
5. You've realised that nowhere in the world is perfect and we can all learn something from everyone/everywhere.

No particular order:

1. Stood by the flaming crater at Darvaza, Turkmenistan (the 'door to hell')
2. Ridden on the back of a motorcycle at speed through the backstreets and highways in Mumbai
3. Dropped about 1,500m straight down a mine shaft in a 'conveyance' (Sth Africa)
4. Seen the Russian State Jewel collection
5. Flown in a 2 engine turbo prop through the Andes valleys (well below summits on either side, to get to a mine site)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Did you forget having steroi_ injections in the toe? :) :)

I have done better!...crossed a busy road in Hue in Jan this year and got knocked over by a motorbike!! The young kid when flying over the handles and I fell onto the busy road...cars and buses just went around me...locals helped drag / carry me off the road....I thought I had broken my leg but it just turned out to be cuts, grazes etc....whole body ached for 2 days!

1. Driven in Paris city centre or similar where lanes are not even suggestions but ignored altogether.
2. Done an activity where you had to win your fear of possible death (e.g. skydiving or scuba diving).
3. Spent proper time outdoors in -20 C or colder temperatures.
4. Gotten completely lost with no idea how to get to where you are.
5. Repeatedly lacked any common language but had to gesture your way through food transport or other necessary purchases.

1. You've flown first class on a long-haul flight
2. You've flown Jetstar in economy on a red-eye flight
3. You've walked down a busy street in India
4. You've jumped off a bridge or out of a plane (with a harness or parachute attached, of course!!)
5. You've seen the northern and/or southern lights

1. Gotten a high value redemption for a Biz class ticket for a good rate.
2. Had a full service Turkish bath (scrubbing and massage)
3. Spent an hour watching the antics of birds in courtship
4. Been the only foreigner at a place with local folkdancing and be able to keep up with the locals
5. Been invited to a wedding spontaneously that you happened to stumble upon.

You haven't lived until....

1. You've flown long haul economy
2. Woken up in a hotel room and do not remember how you got there the night before quickly checking all valuables are there
3. You've survived a serious illness in hospital where you were convinced you'd die
4. You meet your guardian angel
5. You realise everything around you is not real and you're living in a simulation

Clearly we live a much safer life now after two big mistakes.
Body surfed a 27 foot wave in California.
Came off a motorized skateboard in Shanghai onto concrete.
Have knee and shoulder aches to remind me about stupid moves.
Meanwhile we introduced our family to flying up front of the plane and it is hard to go back.
Never tried to cross the road in Taipei but thought about it until a truck ran thru a red light.

I have helped local cross the road in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Yangon.
Just walk out with your hand up and signal everyone to follow you.
Crossing the road in HCM so much worse then other Vietnamese cities.
My strategy is to follow an old lady and stare at her back. Not try to watch everywhere and doge traffic like in Sydney

1. I take the little old lady with me along with all the others waiting.
2. I have also driven around the Arc de Triomphe. Six times.
3. I have spent nearly 2 hours watching courtship rituals of birds in the Galapagos. first blue footed coughies and about 5 minute after that a pair of gannets which was spectacular. And both occurred right at my feet. The guide said I wasn't to move. No worries I wasn't going to do so.
4. Walking in a little village in Japan with my 8 year old son when neither of us had a single word of Japanese and no locals had any English but ended up having lunch in an elderly couples house.
5. appearing in photos around Burma and Japan. In Burma I was asked if they could take my photo more often than the reverse. In Japan invited to join the wedding photo session on several occasions.

What a great thread

For me
  1. Driven on the wrong side of the road
  2. Stood on every continent
  3. Travelled before a mobile phone or internet connection
  4. Arrived in Moscow to find your tour company has gone bankrupt
  5. You’ve had a shower at 35,000 feet

Oh as to the OP - gone are the days where I would get home at daylight and have a shower and go to work.
Loving some of the others and I guess you could always add survived a major health scare when I was only 22 and changed my outlook on life and one of the reasons I will always keep travelling

When I was in the Galapagos, there weren't any birds "in the mood". But I just got back from Guyana and the Guinean cough of the Rock family at the lek put on a spectacular show! Not to mention various Birds of Paradise in West Papua and PNG!

1. Landed at Lukla
2. Have someone use flash photography with an open coughpit as you land in Lukla
3. Tandem parachuted in Wanaka…were we ever going to stop ascending as the parachute deployed?
4. Dived the Great Barrier Reef
5. Snorkeled Pink Beach nea4 Komodo Island
