Have all of your accounts had activity? Or have some just been sitting their dormant?

I'm just wondering whether triggering some activity through pound miles whether that gets you on the radar!

Baggyred if you dont mind me asking what are piund miles ? My accounts have 0 balance and therefore no activity

Got my 100% bonus offer this morning, now contemplating if you should take it up or not, I've got heaps already

Looks the same, $1,881USD for 100k.

I received the email this morning and got excited. Then quickly realised there is nothing special about this offer.

Close to AUD2000, if not more, for business return to Asia. No points earned. Does not count towards status.

Not that $2,000 is such a bad value but I would probably not use USDM for direct A-B-A flights to one destination in Asia.
The programme offers much better value for longer destinations like Europe for 120k in J or 150k in F, especially when you use the T&Cs to your benefit and maximise the number of flights, stopover and layovers ;)
And who cares about status when you already sit in J/F :)

only 75% for me this time after i didn't take up the 100% offer last month

i'm always guaranteed amusement by your posts JohnK. random dates QF SYD-SIN in Nov. business sale $3,161

QF platinum earn on a base biz class i see as 26k points + 240 status credits. do you therefore value this as >= $1,161?

Oh I just received the email from US Airways regarding the 75% more miles bonus I am eligible for.

I need to research a trip for mum to ATH next year or year after. Something tells me Oneworld is not going to be as flexible as *Alliance.

I am still researching options but perhaps Emirates via QFF points would be the better option.

Someone still has to pay for the domestic flights in economy. ;)

All account have participated in recent share promo's (hard to turn down really), two in most recent and all in the one before.

redeem 30K US DM for a J class domestic flight on Qantas (availability is perfect) and stop worrying forever about travelling in economy domestically

Also, it's always good to use the "free one way" option for domestic flights taking advantage of US Airways stopover rules

I am glad you get enjoyment from my posts.

Do you think the only way to determine value of miles bought is to compare to a paid business class airfare?

You don't think anyone is going to compare the 1 business class award against 3 returns in economy which are going to earn ~40,000 QFF points and 1/4 of the way to Platinum?

You think this promotion is good value. I don't.

That is my plan - even if I don't use the points for o/s travel - i will still use them for J domestic!

A 30 min phone call ends up meaning about $700 return J flight - happy days!

different approaches

I don't get my points from flying at all and I don't need status as I fly in J/F on points that I buy. Of course it's a great value for me and many others in the same situation

And who wants to fly in economy anyway???

Those 30+ domestic returns a year are going to cost an arm and a leg but I do see your point. Thanks. ;)

no worries

all is relative and depends

if you buy a cash J fare SYD-PER-SYD for in excess of $3.5K - yes, it will cost you an arm and a leg (especially if you do your 30 domestic returns a year)

however, 30K US DM* $0.018 (bought now at the 100% bonus sale) = $540 + taxes of $30 = $570 does compare very favourably to what you would have to otherwise pay for...and an economy cash fare SYD-PER-SYD would probably be what? $500 at least?

anyway, this is my last post, I'd better shut up or US Airways will stop sending me these emails:p

no, but apparently you do...

ok i'll stop trolling now.

IMO yes the cost of what i'd be prepared to pay for a business class flight is one of the ways i use to determine the value of miles bought.
