How does one practically, plan, book & pay for a XONE4 from Mauritius ?
I need to visit South Africa, Europe & USA in July 2008 and Mauritius seems to be a well priced option.
I would do SYD-JNB-MRU to position myself for a MRU start - then back to JNB for the South African legs.
It's likely thay I would head back to South Africa during 2009 - and commence a new XONE4.

Thanks,

BA office :( fuel fines and booking charges.
There may be another way, i am not sure, not nearly an expert only what i picked up on my research.

I will use Japan for my DONE4 but thats also because its practical for me, MRU for you seems to make good sense. Just be aware of the limited services in Africa. AONEn's are cheap ex MRU but there is also not that many flights with F

Also ex MRU you really have to say leave MRU-JNB.... and return LHR-MRU, as i said not so many choices for flights. But i think thats not an issue since you want and need to be in JNB.

Dave Noble has indicated on FT that you may be able to say purchase via AA from a country that has an AA office but not a published OW rtw fare, you would be charged the ex MRU fare, Nadi was the location mentioned in the thread in question.

Thanks Evan,
I have trawled through Flyertalk and found some 2006 discussion on purchasing tickets ex-MRU. It seems that the BA office is quite efficient - and can do the groundwork via e-mail.

No worries, it had me tempted to try the same thing as you but i have no need to be in SA next year so ex NRT was better for me.... going to book, pay, and pickup tickets next week when i am in Japan.

There's have been posts on the FT oneworld forum that the BA agency in MRU have begun charging a USD300 booking fee.

Could try booking through AA in Canada since from reading a thread on FT recently it seemes that Canada may now be an exception to the having to pay the higher of the issuing location or departure point
