Wondering what happens to the excess status credits when you move through Qan FF Tiers - I have 840 SC, about to move into Silver from Bronze. Do they deduct the 350 upon moving into Silver and leaving the rest for the membership year. Or, do they get reset to zero thereby losing the excess 490 SC.

Thanks for any info!

840SC for a membership year should give you gold, unless you have not made the 4 min QF/JQ flights. As for what happens to them, they keep adding up until the end of the membership year. Then they reset to 0 and you start again. There is a seperate tally that keeps track of lifetime credits. This is for when you reach 7,000 or 14,000 for lifetime silver or gold.

thanks v8Statesman.

Yup, only got 2 QF sectors right now + 840SC. Membership year expires end of July. Was going to get the other 2 by doing a LHR-FRA-SIN, if I add on a Jetstar/Jetflex fare SIN-BKK I should then have enought to move into Gold, right?

840 SC now - Membership year expires 31/July

- 350 move into Silver
+ 20 LHR-FRA return - disc ec - BA codeshare
+ 80 FRA-SIN return - disc ec - QF
+ 120 SIN-BKK Jetflex return. - Jetstar

= 710 SC + the 4 Sectors for the membership year.

As I have to travel this w/end and is a bit of a hassle could you confirm this would all work to get me into Gold? Thanks again.

I should add - QF FF customer service - have told me I am not able to 'tier jump' from bronze to gold. I have to earn silver first.

I don't know if SIN-BKK will count as it is not JQ. Others should be able to confirm.

20.1.5 The travel required in each Membership Year to attain or retain Silver, Gold or Platinum status level must include a minimum of four Eligible Flight Segments where Qantas, QantasLink or a Jetstar Airline is the Marketing Carrier.

'Jetstar Airlines' means each of Jetstar (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K) and Valuair (VF);

so OK on 3K.
Also you don't 'lose' the SCs like you lose BA TPs

ie. After the flights you will be on 1060 SCs (Platinum Qual is 1400)
Getting the two ~s will automatically trigger both Silver and Gold status.

Far as I know you simply need 4 flights in your membership year with a QF flight number..doesn't matter what metal.

I think the QF policy is QF metal isn't it?

Condition 20.1.5 as posted by moa999 above clearly indicates that
... where Qantas, QantasLink or a Jetstar Airline is the Marketing Carrier.

This means that codeshares on non QF metal are eligible for ~ and do count towards the 4 flights needed to attain/retain status.

If you have 700 SCs but < 4 QF flights, you are bronze
As soon as you get the 4 flights, you will jump straight to gold

Not true.Mrsdrron had 1105 SCs before doing her 4 QF sectors and went straight to gold.

As NM and drron have also said you can 'status jump' I went from NB to SG last year and then WP a few weeks later. Sounds like QFF Customer Service are confused :)

Yep - any 4 eligible (point/SC earning) flights with a QF or JQ flight number.
