Wrong booking - cancelling and rebooking

I've booked a SYD-LHR J award flight but no other legs. If I cancel this flight, how long does it take for the flights to reappear as bookable?

Did you forgot to add other legs to your booking? You can do that over the phone, although finding a support agent who is competent enough to do that may be a challenge.

However, unless it's going to be an OneWorld Award, there's generally no price benefit to booking as one ticket versus two separate tickets.

Perhaps looking for the classic rewards sale price? If that is the case, there is no guarantee that your cancelled award seat will be available to rebook immediately or within the timeframe of the sale or at all.

It was more asking for a friend, who has accidentally booked SYD-LHR but not the other CPH-HEL-HND and HND-SYD legs. I'm trying to avoid them having to contact Qantas as getting a competent support agent for OW classic award stuff is a bit painful.

If the SYD-LHR is cancelled, I wouldn’t expect it to become available again. If they need that particular flight, I think they will have to deal with the phone system.
