WP treatment in Y

Is it just me or has QF stopped CSM greetings for WP passengers in Y?

No greeting on PER-MEL-PER and on PER-SIN-PER, both very recent flights.

Nor did I get one on my recent BKK-SYD flight. However, the FAs were very attentive and ensured I had an ongoing supply of hot chocolate and Coke Zero (my drinks of choice). I was supplied my chosen newspaper after J pax (rightfully) had their choice. Noise cancelling headphones were gratefully accepted, the express pass was discreetly provided with the inbound immigration card and being served my dinner of choice first was very nice.

The flight was packed, not even a shadow beside me when I was sitting in the exit row aisle.

On the connecting SYD-MEL flight the CSM did provide a greeting congratulating me on my WP1. :)

I've not had one for a while either, but most of my flights have been on Qlink and I've never had one on them. Got a few more mainline domestic flights over the next week, so will see if they resume.

SYD-MEL this morning, no greeting but had 4C on a 737-800 with a shadow, although I'm not sure if it belonged to myself or 4A. MEL- SYD this evening, no greeting, 24F bulkhead with 24E as shadow on a pretty full flight, although again not sure if it was mine or 24D's.

I received the most personal greeting flying Y Mel to Adl during the week I was actually impressed!! I normally shun this attention as do most serious flyers here.

I recently moved from P1 to WP as well.

Qantas seem to be serious about their top flyers, watch out JB!!

Not a complaint, simply an observation, but on my most recent flight, aside from the standard greeting at the door, I had no interaction whatsoever with the crew - not a word spoken.
It was the PER-SYD red-eye and I was asleep for a couple of hours mid-flight, but I still found it rather odd.

I was greeted by the CSM on QF10 recently between after departing DXB to MEL (in Y+). I didn't note down the name of the CSM but he shook my hand, told me the "crew knew who I was and where I was seated" (I'm glad nobody seemed to overhear that - don't think I'm the DYKWIA type and I would have been embarassed) and to let them know if I needed anything. To be honest I didn't know what I could ask for so didn't really take advantage of it.

The First bag tags worked a treat I must say for getting out of MEL, my bags were among the first few onto the carousel. I was out of the airport in < 30 mins from the time we pulled up to the gate.

This seems to be the norm for me. Since my last post in this thread I've still not flown internationally, but have had another 11 domestic sectors in Y, including eight coast-to-coast. Not one greeting beyond the standard at the door that they give everyone, oh, and being asked if I want the chicken or the fish (or whatever is the meal choice of the day).

I was in business on one BNE -> PER flight and status wasn't acknowledged or any special attention paid, although maybe that's normal for business (I'm only very rarely able to fly it).

I guess I'm a bit disappointed. I was expecting a bit more personal service since reaching WP for the first time a couple of months ago. :(

I was surprised to be addressed by name when the FA was handing out refreshments on QF419 yesterday morning, and I was seated way back in 34B...the person in 34A seemed suitably impressed as he didn't get the same treatment :)

PB also worked for QF419, and QF454 on the way back for that matter...

When I scanned my card this morning CBR-ADL the FA looked up and said "but you were here yesterday".. to which i sighed and said "yes, I'm here most days"..

Only ever been greeted once out of about 30 flights as WP.
And as of last weeks MEL -SYD flight - I can now say free upgrade once from Y to J . (I was flying onto OOL and was hoping the J class upgrade would continue, but no luck)
Slightly off topic, but was recently disappointed at the service received in J on AKL to MEL. 3rd person served in the cabin - hot meal choice gone already (FA said they only loaded 2!) Serves me right for being a fussy eater I suppose. Pretty much ignored me for the whole flight. Looking forward to taking the EK 380s MEL-AKL-MEL from now on in.
I have learnt my lesson, and will now select 1A on the 737's, despite hating to let my handbag go out of my sight for take off/landing.

I was on 551 on 27/8 (BNE-SYD) sitting in 23B. Welcomed by name at gate and on boarding. CSM approached soon after take-off, welcomed me back and asked if there was anything she could do to make the flight more comfortable. Given it was such a short flight, I said I was fine. She seemed surprised - "can I get you a nice glass of white or red wine from the business cabin?". Okay - thankyou - white please! The CSM was back within moments with a nice glass of Sav Blanc from the Adelaide Hills. I saw this happen to two other pax in the Y cabin. When the meal service started in Y, one of the FAs noticed my empty glass and asked if I wanted another wine. I was expecting to be handed a plastic bottle from the trolley along with my meatballs. But no, she went up the front and came back with another glass of the good stuff. The experienced crew were friendly and upbeat from boarding to departure and it was QF on a good day, for sure.

Returning to BNE on 546 the next day in row 4. Nothing.

Since becoming WP last year, I have been getting small gestures of recognition in domestic Y on most flights, but not all. Sometimes it's a greeting after take-off, sometimes a small bottle of water, sometimes addressed by name during service, and sometimes some wine from the front. QFLink is a different story - although I was surprised on my last flight to BDB when the FA addressed me by name when they were handing out the snack.

On a flight this morning I was seated in 4F (no shadow). I was approached by a FA shortly after take off and asked if I wanted to move into one of the business seats.

Given that the flight was only a short charter (~90 minutes), and I was already quite ensconced with my in-arm screen that I'd manipulated to show the second half of the movie I'd had to cut short on another short flight, and there were PAX in the middle and aisle seats that I'd have to push past to accept the offer, I politely declined. But I really appreciated the offer.

Thank you very much, Qantas; you put a smile on my face this morning. :)

Agree,
Altough I have never had this offer, (which is not expected) it is the little things like this which makes your day.

Good experience for the better half and I yesterday travelling BNE-SY return... Op-up for both of us to J in the morning
Then we had the same cabin crew on the way home that afternoon. The CSM came to say hello (we were in Y, row 4 with shadow) and gave us a couple of bottles of wine to take with us. Very nice gesture, much appreciated.

On QF6 last Friday the flight was chokers. CSM came about 2 hours into the flight and gave me business head set saying as the flight is full they cannot move me anywhere more comfortable but at least the headphones can cut some noise out. Nice gesture since on a full flight not much can be done!

On QF9 last week (18 Dec) in J no recognition at all, on either leg of the flight. Second leg of flight the mainly British crew didn't even bother to call anyone by name, just giving us the generic "ma'am" and "sir". Was a comfortable enough flight, service wasn't exactly lacking, but it's nice to have the CSM come say hi. I'm waiting to see if they bother to do in Y on the way home.

Flew on QF1 last week, on the SYD to DXB leg the crew were great, the CSM dropped by and arranged drinks for me and my family. On the second leg the British crew were disappointing, never heard from the CSM in the upstairs Y cabin though some other passengers did get the greeting. When I spoke to her later about express passes she apologized and complained that there were so many WP's on the flight!

When I flew to HKG, I have seen CSM greeted WP in Y few months ago. CSM offered them free bottle of wine and two wine glasses for them to drink and extra service for them.

To drink on the flight or a bottle to take home with them? I should start ordering wine in Y to get an offer to keep it, perhaps.
