WP treatment in Y

Just hit WP flying only Y Dom... last night Brisbane-Perth frist flight as WP and got a warm welcome and asked if I needed anything etc.

100% for me to date, will see how it goes next week!

For the record, I have only ever received 4 opups in my life. 3 were soon after achieving WP (2010), all on CNS-SYD. And one soon after joining QP (2001) MEL-BNE.

Never been opupped internationally, including on oversold flights.

Travel more during school holidays (like last week)!

That trick doesn't work anymore Markis at least not for me.

In the last cpl of months I've been on plenty of flights that were "perfect candidates" for it - but no such luck.

I do believe that the new domestic upgrade process has made it easier for them to fill seats with points upgrades.

Sorry to hear that, worked for me twice last week, once on QF52 (from PE) and once on EK432 (from Y), both were showing oversold Y a week out with 52 having $500 PE seats still on offer!

Nice, I had been hopeful on QF128 last night. Also showed oversold a week ago.

No such luck however :(

I've been a WP for nearly three years, almost exclusively travelling Dom Y with only 1 opup which occurred on a BNE-CNS flight just after a cyclone had a near miss with CNS and the flight was full.

I get what I pay for. My thoughts are don't expect anything so you're not disappointed when that beep doesn't happen on boarding!! If it does bring on the smiles :p

I can count on one. One finger that is.

(on domestic) :)

+1 here.. was WP for well over 5 years and now WP1.. been only ack. 1 or max. 2 on Dom flights.. QFi different story.. but have never been offered J Kit or headphones if traveling in PE or Y...

However, I don't let this bother me.. I expect the level of service in the cabin that I have paid for.. and also since becoming WPI QF does look after me with occasional tickets, dinner etc.. so no complaints.

One thing does bother me at times.. is the small % of Op-ups that I have recd.. over the 100s of flights that I have taken in Y (both Dom and QFi)... Guesstimate is not more than 2-3%

$500 PE seats? Can you elaborate? I haven't seen PE seats that cheap and I'm travelling on Qf51 & QFF 52 in school holidays in Y with the family. Sale fares were $430.

Had my first beep the other week...QF23, and that is after 2 years of WP. Nothing on domestic.

six domestic sectors last week for me and not a single opup...
Domestic is a different matter.

I used to get 3-4 domestic op-ups every year. This year has been very lean. I have been on many flights where economy was not full and business class has not been full either.

Only 100 passengers on BNE-SYD flight yesterday and 8 of those in business.

it can be a bit of an effort! it seems to be straightforward for cx diamonds and golds, but for other OW elites you need to ask, and I haven't been able to successfully assign those seats as part of on line check in.

for non cx elites, it appears the allocation of prem Y seats is up to airport control, so basically asking at check in. they will usually have to call the supervisor to release the seat, and the conversation has always included a discussion about the level of elite status (on one call she confirmed 'yes, only oneworld sapphire')

being under airport control, I haven't been able to secure seats for onward connections out of Hong Kong until arriving in Hong Kong... and the lounge tried every excuse to not let me have the seat (the cabin is not occupied, you have to pay for the seat in there, you can't have the seat unless the flight is fully booked etc etc).

finally in Hong Kong they called the supervisor and had the seat released (again after confirming oneworld sapphire).

maybe for emeralds the process would be simpler in terms of your eligibility to sit in the cabin, but I think the process of getting the seat might be the same.

but... it is certainly much more comfortable, and the cabin is generally more quiet given how hard it is to get a seat in there! depending on the crew sometimes they will close the curtains between regular economy and premium economy, and the service is slightly more attentive (not markedly).

I was just now able to select a PE seat with OLCI for a flight on Sunday. They had previously all been blocked.
Don't know if status played a role.
Hopefully no equipment change in the mean time.

if anything status would be it. is it just a single sector you have booked (ie no connections?)

I'm feeling a bit lucky. Ticked over to WP last week, and on my next flight I received an op-up to J flying HKG-ADL. And then a personal greeting from the CSM flying to Melbourne. Very happy so far.

Great introduction to WP, can't ask for more

Is it just me or has QF stopped CSM greetings for WP passengers in Y?

No greeting on PER-MEL-PER and on PER-SIN-PER, both very recent flights.

Didn't get one on SYD BKK the other week either, flight only 65-70% full at the back. Got a shadow so quite happy.

*edit* BKK express pass was handed out on descent into BKK so they did know we were on board
