WP perks when in whY

Dessert wine is served on (all?) international flights, including Trans-Tasman, and possibly Perth CityFlyer, in J or F (where applicable). I had some on my last BNE-HKG flight (thankfully op-upped by QF from Economy (V) to J at check-in).

The dessert wine served could vary on route and flight, but here is what I got when I flew BNE-HKG in J in May:

Definitely De Bortoli but not Noble One.

The Deen De Bortoli sticky was on the cart in J on our ADL-PER sector last weekend. Several glasses eased the pain for this transcontinental flyer. :)

OK... they must hate me then! I get the greeting from the minions (my seatmates don't get the same greeting so i figured it's a elite status thing) but not the CSM. :p And it's only happened on QF73/74, never on QF93/94. I don't like dessert wine or any kind of fortified wine so will probably turn down the Noble 1 even if offered - but I do wonder if I can hint at swapping it for F champers.......:D

I think it may partly depend on how busy it is around the time of departure / how many issues they're having getting pax settled etc.

QF2 got it both legs, multiple trips on QF 15/16 got it all legs (mix of J and Y+) except for one (ironically in J upstairs). Didnt get it in J on QF107 ex-LAX to JFK.

So I think it's a "do if there's time" thing.

It was on my DRW-BNE leg a few weeks ago as well, along with the Vasse Felix, boy was I in the bad box when I got home :D:D It was worth it.

Cannot understand why QF cannot ensure that express immigration cards are handed out to Platinums flying economy.

The F check in desk in Sydney (and maybe other ports) also has inbound express passes.

If you're connecting to an international flight from domestic (like all of mine), you could try going to the F desk, handing over your BP+WP card and mentioning that the check in desk forgot to give you your express pass.

With a bit of luck they'll give you one for each direction. This is even easier now that the transfer bus deposits you landside.

I've done it once legitimately where I wasn't given express passes in CBR (or First tags, but my bag was waiting on the final destination carousel when I came through immigration anyway).

I'm actually building up a small stockpile that I keep in my passport wallet just in case :)

I do the same, though I always end up with more outbound ones as the APEC card does the same thing when flying out of Australia. Customs won't accept APEC cards for the express queues unfortunately.

Still got plenty of inbound spares though - family and friends love 'em. :)

Agreed that that is a pain - and also that the APEC queue is on the far right at SYD, whilst the express entry from the QF First Desk lands you on the left
(I suspect that a high %ge of APEC card holders are WP)

I have a number of times seen a 20 strong Express Customs queue so walked to the other end to use APEC, then back to use Express Security

The past few economy flights I have beem getting the greating normally "welcome back mr mikew is there anything i can do for you".

I got no recognition on my last flight MEL-LAX. It seems to be 'if they can be bothered'. Not that it really bothers me, in fact, it's a little embarrassing if you're seated next to a non-FF.

Nothing from any CSM's this year on QF. Most I've got has been from individual flight attendants who recognise me from previous flights and I find that better than just a hello from a csm

Of all domestic flights I've taken since July, I've been greeted at the seat once by a very enthusiastic CSM, who actually caught me by surprise as I wasn't expecting it at all.

Yeah I don't expect anything on domestic. Although on a SYD-CNS flight in the middle of school holidays I had the CSM come and ask me my meal preference prior to the commencement of service "I just want to make sure you get your choice of meal Mr DF". I was very impressed, and quite unexpected.

The other thing not mentioned is "express immigration" cards. These should be handed out by the CSS/CSM to all WPs (and SGs) regardless of class on flights arriving into Australia. If you don't get one and the flight is about to go into preperation for landing, ask for one.

Wish I knew about this feature last week when I landed in Brisbane and it took the best part on a hour to clear customs. Immigration was cleared as quickly as those standing in the express lane, but customs was the delay. Something to remember for future trips.

Well no recognition at all on SYD-LAX. My first transpacific in whY for a few years and I definitely missed being in the pointy end.

But I don't expect anything other than published benefits, so not disappointed.

That said, seems something easy to make consistent that might generate some increased loyalty :)

Interesting how CX manages to provide personal greetings most of the time.

On lax-syd on oct 2 the CSM visited me in Y and gave me an express inbound card. So it does happen sometimes.

Well, just returned from LOTFAP and nothing, nada on my outbound flights.

LAX-BNE however had the economy cabin supervisor come up right after take off with the in-seat greeting, offered a pre-dinner drink, newspaper and J amenity kit. Also got an inbound express card upon descent.

Then BNE-CNS received my first ever domestic in-seat greeting by the CSM. Very friendly personalised "welcome back" spiel with newspaper offering.
