wow I got comped WP

After accruing about 4000 sc's in two years I dropped down to about 350 sc's during my last ff period do to a change in roles.

I was fully prepared for QF to tell me I would be a PS and I would have been chuffed to be comped SG i received a nice surprise in the mail saying i'd be WP for another year.

Mysteriously all my London business trips have changed back to OW carriers from Virgin... good work QF... thanks for the comp.

BTW you would drop to Gold not Silver. Standard is to drop one level not to the level achieved.

Comping of status?

It happened to me twice in my first 2 years of Platinum but I just made Platinum each time. My SCs balance for each year was only just on the number required to attain/maintain. I guess that is another inconsistency.

It's the unpublished 1 time grace acceptance of not re-qualifying WP. It's quite well known. But don't expect it 2 years in a row...

Good to hear OP. I got offered it last year a month or so out from my requal date, but managed to get there under my own steam anyway, so imagine there is one still awaiting me if required (if the policy does not change).

You wouldn't have dropped to PS as QF have soft landings. This means you only fall one step at a time as long as you have the four sectors.

And, for 1 time only, you might not even even drop 1 level (as you have now discovered). You need to fully requalify as WP to reset the counter.

Don't expect it but there is some evidence to suggest it does happen and with an extremely small SC balance which was not even enough for qualifying Silver 2 years in a row.

If there is such an unpublished benefit, it has not been applied consistently. There is anecdotal evidence that happens to some but certainly not to all, so anybody this happens to is probably lucky.

My experience of 9 years of WP was no comp, nor was my partner comped after 4 years.

I am in exactly the same boat as the OP. 365 SC earned after three years of solid platinum, one of PG, no forward bookings. FF Summary now reads that status assessment will reoccur in Sept 2013.

Whilst overjoyed that I have another year, it will mean that I need to organise another farewell WP tour since this year's wasn't really a farewell!

Hope it happens to me:

I only have 70 SCs of forward bookings for the rest of this membership year.

If I do drop down it'll only be temporary as the number of trips I have planned will get me back to Platinum anyway

So long as you hit the minimum number of segments I hear though... not hard to do 4 though I suppose, especially if previously you likely flew a lot more!

I was shocked as Virgin dropped me to PS from WP due to a lack of sc's and I was expecting max SG because my sc's were so low... didn't realise people with lower totals got comped before.

anyway very happy and this year I should be able to requalify properly.
