Hopefully, it will be all clear by then. However, the quarantine would be the least of my worries as I would be more concerned about contracting the virus. 🤔
I don’t think the virus is any more nasty than the flu one unless you are immune comprised, elderly, and have other health issues.

Quite possibly, but I hope that I’ll not have to put it to the test. 😀

Interview with a doctor in HK on BBC news said otherwise. He said healthy people were dying so not like the flu

I did read a medical paper referenced in the other thread that gave the death profile of being male, average age 70 with chronic health issues.

Yeah I've heard that too.. Not sure what to believe

Probably best to believe authorities around the world are taking unprecedented action with this one. There must be a reason Governments are reacting very differently to similar outbreaks like SARS / MERS / Bird / Swine / etc / etc

Wenzhou is also locked down now. Not far from Shanghai.

Well in the Spanish flu pandemic it was predominantly young fit people who died.

The fatality rate for influenza is less than 0.1%, Corona is estimated to be between 2-6%. It’s much worse than the flu

Spanish flu mortality was 10-20%. It was aggravated by a host of other factors in that 1918-19 period, so it is particularly unusual.

The first patient to die outside of China was a 44 year old male in the Philippines.

I'm looking for it, but I recall another man in his 30s also died.

So it certainly is possible, symptoms can be severe or mild. With current data it appears more infective and has a higher mortality rate than the flu, but less than SARS. Unfortunately, unlike SARS, the coronavirus is contagious when pts are asymptomatic.

Found it

Also,
The China National Health Commission reported the details of the first 17 deaths up to 24 pm 22 Jan 2020. The deaths included 13 males and 4 females. The median age of the deaths was 75 (range 48-89) years.[21]

However, that's just for the first 17 deaths. I haven't found data regarding the next 280+ patients which should help give us a better idea!

I’d not worry about getting sick but getting delayed for weeks. I would take my own medications.

Pretty much zero you can do for yourself if you're unlucky enough to catch it.

I’m not saying younger people may not die from it. So 2 younger men out of 300? And there has been no mention as to pre existing issues in that case. Who knows what else was going on there. He was initially recovering so maybe he had a heart condition.
