I have business in China that I really would like to attend to in next couple weeks - cities I would be visiting are Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou - all a minimum 757km from Wuhan- would you go?

At the moment it seems no more issues in the other Chinese cities than other Western cities.

In a week or so, Wuhan will be irrelevant, if it isn't already. You are/will be only one cough from someone who has been to Wuhan, or knows someone who has been there ... and so on.

No, I wouldn't be planning any travel to PRC at the moment.

Normally it would be a yes for me but after seeing Singapore close their borders I wonder how many follow suit?
Wouldn’t want to be stuck there with delays getting out

If you are fit and have a healthy immune system are not elderly and have no pre-dispositions then your personal health might be at the lower end of the reasons not to go. But you also need to consider your loved ones and work colleagues when/if you return

Many provinces of China now have confirmed cases of 200 or more and significantly more suspected. (I would suspect actual non-symptomatic as yet infections to be a couple orders of magnitude higher)

Eight provinces have had deaths including Shanghai and Beijing.

In this day and age and in the current scenario of so many unknowns I would be doing my business via Skype.

Given the last 24 hours and the pressure on Beijing to contain, you can't be certain you will be allowed to leave the country after arrival.

There are so many countries that have now closed their borders to passengers from China , it is only a matter of time before China closes its own border!

I would not travel. Current advisory Aust Govt = reconsider need to travel. USA advisory = do not travel. So no insurance cover for anything related to the epidemic.

The distance from Wuhan is probably irrelevant, as other have pointed out.

If booked on SQ you won't be:

From MOH | News Highlights

From 1 February 2020, 2359h, all new visitors with recent travel history to mainland China within the last 14 days will not be allowed entry into Singapore, or to transit through Singapore.

"Free"?

The going rate seems to be about $1000...

I would far rather spend $1000 for a fortnight visiting Christmas Island than a "cash-neutral" experience of being shipped to some internal NZ asylum :)

If you work it all perfectly, you may get a free VIP trip to Christmas Island for a couple of weeks - now that I think is a winner :)
... or, maybe a bit longer. 3, 4 or 6 weeks? Even a better bargain. 🤣

Of course you must go. The Chinese media is accurately and honestly reporting all instances of current infections and the spread of the virus.

If they say it's safe then it's safe. The WHOs declaration of a Global Emergency needn't be considered.

The declaration comes now, he said, because of fears that the coronavirus may reach countries with weak health care systems, where it could run amok, potentially infecting millions of people and killing thousands.

/sarcasm

No for me. Not due to fears of becoming ill but rather the Chinese government has shown the willingness and capability to freeze all travel. You could be stuck there for quite a while.
