There's no value in paying to fly First. Or even business.

Happy to continue searching for economy bargains although February trip prices have me stumped at the moment.

I have to politely disagree but everyone values some things over others so this is a very personal decision. I have discussions quite regularly with work colleagues who often claim that they don't understand how anyone could 'waste their money' on Business class flights (while then 'wasting' their money on all sorts of other things that I personally find totally unnecessary, kids for example ;) ).

For me, flying up the front, turns an experience that I absolutely dread (the pushy people, the lack of space, the smells, the get-out-of-my-private-zone kind of feeling, the lack of sleep, and so on...) into one that I fully enjoy. And if it's F or a particularly good J class experience like on Qatar, then it's even something that becomes part of the holiday, something to look forward to for weeks and something that sticks in your head forever.

So- there's totally value in my mind. But as I said, each to their own, there's lot of stuff I wouldn't dream to spend money on.
