Do you think that VA would eventually do lounge access and points/sc earn (on the most expensive fares) like QF do with JQ, They allow you to redeem points for tickets so would status recognition be far off?

IMHO,

Yes I think they will offer that service but maybe there is some logistics and maybe over crowding in some lounges.

I could be wrong, but I believe VA have said in the past that they are not considering this.

*dons flame suit*

Seeing as a lot of what they have done since the Virgin Blue days has been a photocopy of QF, I don't see why not!

I think you'll find that QF doesn't even offer status recognition for pax on JQ flights. The exception to this of course is that Chairmans Lounge members can use the Business class check-in on JQi 787 services, but that's limited to that group only, not even P1!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Never say never, but they have been pretty clear that they don't want to confuse the product offering of the two airlines. I'd be surprised if it happens anytime soon.

let's see how TT goes with contributing to the bottom line, im sure theyll consider it when they need to squeeze a bit more from them

That was my understanding too. And from memory I think most AFFers applauded it at the time as they thought it would stop VA changing routes to TT like QF did with JQ (*cough* Gold Coast *cough*).

Things have changed since then though, and it didn't really stop VA shunting over routes to TT anyway. Maybe time for a rethink - though given the cuts in earn on Getaway fares on actual VA it's difficult to see any points/SC being significant.

Me too but with TT slated to take over more flying from VA it might work its way back into consideration...
