Harvyk, hasn't it already been pointed out that the original flight is still for sale?

Good point... Perhaps a systems glitch in that case?

Re: would TIGER move cheap Y passengers to later inconvenient flight to maximise prof

I flew Tiger reasonably regularly for non-essential travel up until a few years ago. I said I would fly with them until something went wrong, and something did. My Friday night flight was cancelled as we missed curfew in ADL and we were offered refunds or to be booked on a flight the following day. I think the refund policy may only apply if they cannot get you to your destination the same day.

Re: would TIGER move cheap Y passengers to later inconvenient flight to maximise prof

Looking at the tiger website looks like they have changed their flight times for Wednesdays. They are 9am and 8.10pm unlike other days when they have their 2.20pm service. Both flights are currently $84.95.

The decision will have nothing to do with the fare paid by the OP.

The OP should be able to choose one of those flights or get a refund.

Thanks, I have tried all day to contact Tiger on their Syd and Mel numbers, to no avail. sometimes it does not even ring, other times I am told that it is not a recognised number. I did manage to hold for 27 mins this morning while recording played and then it cut out.
Yesterday, day of change of departure email, the same message on both SYD and MEL stated that they were very busy and it was Nadia speaking, ( computerised voice) and please to leave a number which they would call back when they were less busy. I was cranky and didn't do that yesterday and today I can't even talk to a computerised voice. Great gate keeping Tiger, no way to contact you despite all the numbers provided.

Any clues?
I will try TIGER Singapore again but do not expect miracles. At least I have booked a flight with Virgin for about the same time which will get me home at a reasonable hour with public transport. JoyV

Re: would TIGER move cheap Y passengers to later inconvenient flight to maximise prof

I finally got through to Tiger in Singapore, took about 20 mins to get through to person in call centre in Philippines.
I said I wanted refund as such a late arrival was too inconvenient and she told me that because the delay was more than 4 hours I was able to get a refund for either the entire return trip or part of it.
I said I just wanted the changed return trip from BNE refunded and she said that my refund would be $90.925 and would take 3 to 4 weeks to reach my bank account.
Once I managed to get to talk to a real person it was straight forward. Finding a real person to talk to was the rub. Also asked her to record the fact that it was impossible to get through to anyone on either Mel or Syd contact number.
Thank you everyone for your input. I appreciate your answers and details that some of you posted. JoyV

PS Not sure how the $90 was arrived at as I paid a total of $171.85 Which included taxes and insurance $12. Guess I will wait and see what amount actually goes into my bank account in about a month.

Maybe the airport fees are different which means the fare refund isn't exactly half the cost?

Whatever, it's a great result and shows the worth of persevering.

Not sure either as $171.85 - $12 for insurance = $159.85 for return so $79.925 for one-way + $12 for insurance = $91.925 which is not quite what you were quoted.

I am guessing you were refunded the insurance as it is now a one-way trip!

Re: would TIGER move cheap Y passengers to later inconvenient flight to maximise prof

Please let us know in 4 weeks how much the refund was, or if they actually did it.

Be interesting to follow up this story.
