If there's already a thread somewhere, please move it but I just thought it might be amusing (and perhaps annoying) to compile a list of the little annoyances associated with airline travel.

The instigator for this thread is a guy who sat down beside me in the bar at ROK just now and picked up his phone and proceeded to ring someone to enquire whether they were home. He was at full noise and had the recipient of the phone on loudspeaker. Then to rub salt in the wounds, he proceeded to play his choice of music at full volume on his phone which distorted the output so much I could not make out what it was he was listening to. Admittedly, that is not technically a flying issue........it just peeved me a tad.

What other little oddities cheese you off?

Not really anything to do with flying, that's to do with people generally being dicks :)

Switching to an earlier flight, which is then delayed and your original flight goes before you do. Happened to me twice recently when there was too many overhead bags and it took ages to sort them out and get them put underneath - hence the delay wasn't apparent until we were on board.

Could you have spilled some of your drink near the phone and then told him unless he turned it off or p!ssed off it would be getting the whole lot next time???

Although a few phones these days are water resistant???

Me generally, like everyone else, is the stupid, OTT security procedures... With an itinerary where you might have 15-20 flights in a month or so you know there are going to be at least 1-2 annoying occurences...

Waited today in a long line to get into the Jloung as only 1 person on desk checking pax in. We only had HL and did online check in. Why bother if you have to queue again?

Pax who feel the need to engage in a long conversation with the FAs while all the other pax behind are left waiting for service.

Pet hate now is getting off the plane and the people in front of you are going through their smartphones; texting etc, slowing the line down to almost a standstill. Please, please, please get off the airbridge, its only another 15 seconds.......

2nd this - Although usually hasn't been a problem for me, sitting no further back than Row 4 for most of this year on VAs 737/330s and passing on the sides those before me anyway.

Phone conversations and the selfish morons that should be barred from using any device anywhere are pet hates of mine.

No I don't want listen to your conversation nor anything you want to play out loud on your device.

I am under the impression some people think public transport is no different to their living room.

It's only going to get worse when we are able to use phones on aircraft, and by the look if things its not too far off. There is always a bit of peace when you get on the aircraft to almost be "blacked out" from the tech world, but I'm dreading the possibility listening to over-inflated ego's on their phones sitting in J or F. I wonder if we will get i dividing of the cabin, just like back in the days of smoking class?

Can they play "pink noise"in the cabin to get rid of the sounds of others? I know it is transmitted in some large buildings to keep the sounds of others down - maybe an aircraft as well?????

And that is another "wot cheeses me orf", flight music!!!! TG was ever so painful Kenny G whining away 1am in the morning as we board for BKK to PVG was worse than going for a root canal! Worse was yet to come with this cacophony breaking into an electric guitar riff. Others are not too bad, MH, BA, but please, do we really need boarding music? Exit music might be more appropriate to get pax off faster......

My wot cheezes me off is all the whiners on Facebook and twitter complaining to Qantas or VA or insert your airline here because business is too big, Y is too crowded, they missed their flight because they were late for checkin, they don't know what terminal to arrive at, the don't know if their bag will fit in carry on, no one helped them schlepp their bags and kids and stroller to the gate etc.

Do the world a favour, burn your passports and stay home.

Nooo, let them go! I don't want to encounter those people on my domestic flights :)

Just my kind of idea! I often play "Pink noise" to drown out others........Pink Floyd noise, that is .

Now that Ive calmed down, I was going to delete my post because I remember once asking AFF about carry on for a custom made Fender guitar and felt slightly embarrassed about my rant.

I don't know how the airline social media people stand it. Announce new seats and cue whining and moaning about how they will never get to sit there and how unfair life is because they cant use the J bar. Uggh. I would be an alcoholic within a month, doing that job.

Babies.

I have been quoted as saying that they should require a court order to travel (for a life threatening reason).

Oh, it's the same in any customer service job. You'll never please everybody and there are always whingers and idiots. At least with social media you don't have to deal with them in person.
