Worst cabin announcement

On my flight today the pilot apologised that we would endure louder engine noise than usual as we had to fly unusually low for the duration of the flight due to “technical reasons”. There were a fair few raised eyebrows and murmurs - it got me thinking, what’s the worst cabin announcement AFFers have heard?!

And on the technical side, what would require a flight to stay at 25,000ft?

It’s usually an air conditioning pack inoperative that’ll be a requirement to fly at 25,000ft or less. The operating pack will provide pressurisation and will have a reduced airflow hence the requirement to operate at a lower flight level.

Worst in-flight announcement I have heard was on Austrian Airlines, Vienna to Sibiu. We began circling around beneath clouds for a while - captain comes on and says that there are thunderstorms at our destination, so we have to circle. But its OK, as "We have 45 minutes of fuel".

We landed 75 minutes later.

After a swift abort landing a few years ago the Captain announced - “Sorry about that, we tried landing at the wrong airport”. Which turned out to be Virgins idea of a joke. The reason for the abort was that the runway was suddenly flooded by one of those tropical downpours that Brisbane sometimes gets.

We too were ADL-BNE.

Funniest maybe, "welcome to the circus that is Jetstar", when they had more passengers with boarding passes than they had seats

Can't remember the exact wording as it was many years ago, but after boarding and door close, the front of the plane jiggles a bit, then a bit more, then the front door is re-opened and captain says "Sorry folks we needed to change a front tyre but now that everyone's on board we can't get the jack out. Can the first 10 rows of passengers please disembark onto the bridge for a moment."

When I first moved to DRW in 2012, the announcement after landing was: “ Welcome to Darwin where the local time is 1998”.

On VA a couple years back, the pregnant CSM made an announcement after the first cart-service and clearance had been completed on an evening SYD-CNS flight, "It is the crew's rest time now, please don't press the call bell..."

Took off from a regional Colombian airport, and as the plane started climbing we started doing a left turn. Expected. But the plane kept slowly turning and then after a full circle promptly landed again. Turned around after a few seconds on the tarmac and took off again, the captain announcing "sorry about that - we left a door open".
