I really take this with a massive grain of salt.

AirlineRatings.com is a joint venture between The West Australian and Geoffrey Thomas (amongst others). Geoffrey Thomas appears to be very pro-Qantas - even down to writing opinion pieces why Perth airport should fund the recent stoush with Qantas re: Per-Lhr direct. Hard to claim to be independent then.

They also gave QF the best catering award for the last 3 years.......

To add some balance as per Coyote25: http://www.jacdec.de/airline-safety-ranking-2017/

QF is ninth!

A grain of salt, whole buckets full. These guys ratings always seem to have magically have Qantas at the top for everything yet every other rating system usually has then much further down the list.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Can't say I find the jacdec ratings much better with Hainan and Eva ahead of Qantas!

There are some oddities in some of these ranking systems - I've seen Garuda in more top ten lists than one would expect in recent years. Some mates in international aviation safety stick firmly to two main airlines when they fly wherever possible - QF and SQ; even ignoring crash stats they have the best maintenance programs, pilot testing and safety protocols out there according to those in the know. Otherwise, Air NZ, KLM and CX also rate pretty highly amongst them.

He's also regularly promoted by tabloid media as an "aviation expert" or "analyst". He actually has no experience or qualifications in any aviation related role (except as a baggage handler in rural WA at one point).

Due to his high media profile, he's a QF CL. Read into that what you will.
