This year's will be at the rooftop pool at the Holiday Inn Old Sydney with a bunch of AFFers and Flyer Talkers who got a room for 10,000 points per night.

My idea of the best will be high up above the Sydney crowds watching the fireworks from my apartment balcony with a few close friends.

I don't deal well with crowds :)

It must still be Christmas.....just been upgraded to the Presidential Suite connecting to an executive suite at the Park Hyatt Washington DC:D

Will still be here when NYE comes around!

Might knock out some tunes from the Grand Piano sitting in the lounge room!

Looks like a communal dining table!

Hoping for more pics

Yes, at least a 10 seater. In the morning I'll take photos with the blinds open (too cold now) as the windows are floor to ceiling and go right around the suite.

If my train is on time on NYE (good luck!), the timetable has me getting off my train at Central in Sydney at 2358 for my 37 minute meal break.

Had a great party at my place - quite possibly my best NYE yet despite the responsibilities of being a host.

Somehow we managed to use about 25 glasses without breaking anyway - quite a good effort!

Enjoyed the fireworks too:

Yes we left a few days before, it was so cold!!

I am skiing in Canada and I was colder in NYC !

Enjoy the shopping.

Times Square was mad, to be honest if we didn't have a "party room" it would have been awful.

Seeing the festivities from there and having plentiful supplies of F&B plus bathroom facilities was fantastic.
Even in my foolhardy backpacking days I think standing in the pens for 10+ hours with none of the above would have been awful.

i wonder what Vegas would be like on NY eve

Was there a year ago. Can get a bit congested and aggro on the street. Was a bit cold too. Fireworks were great. Just been in South Beach, Miami for this NYE and prefered it. Altough threatened to rain a few times it was much warmer and more relaxed.
