Woolworths to offer discounts with EDR Card

Want to save real $, head to Aldi
I have been to Aldi Caloundra once but never again... packed / narrow aisles, deposit for trolley, no car parks (had to park on the street), 1% CC surcharge, generally poor quality products, limited selection, overseas owned etc. Yes, you will save money but at what cost? I am prepared to pay a little more so I don't have to put up with all that. It is like some people will fly a LCC and others are prepared to pay more for better service. YMMV.

Two German brothers set up a great business success story. IIRC they have a World wide turnover in excess of WWL & the old CML combined.

Your average WOW & Coles store has something like 32,000+ lines in each store....Aldi, around 700. They are the LCC of the supermarket World:!:

Woolworths Online shows what items in this offer are available to online shopping customers. I presume (but cant be sure) that the same products on special there will be the same in the stores.

Over 700 listed. Some interesting ones in there, but not many (in my opinion).

Indeed, I never said it was enjoyable !

The ones near me are always packed and I don't like packing my own bags, unless it's self-serve checkout

Woolies works for me, with at least a 14.4% return with Amex/Qantas points, and quite a bit higher when you factor in the bonus points offers and then the extra Qantas FF points on petrol

I should compile a spreadsheet but a quick calculation is about this:

As a minimum:

$100 spent per week, I spend more but let's keep it simple
150 Amex MR Points
70 Qantas FF points from Woolies
100 Qantas points from filling up the car with 50 litres of petrol

320 Qantas/Amex points valued at 4.5 cents each.
$14.40 return or 14.4%

Then a bonus offer of the week which lately has been about 100 points

420 Qantas/Amex points valued at 4.5 cents each.
$20.25 return or 20.2%

Of course when they have 8 or 10 or 20 cents discount on petrol, which I changed to Qantas FF points, it's an even better return!

Now that is for a "premium" shopping experience compared to maybe saving at Aldi

Just make sure you get your EDR card scanned before they start scanning & not at the end when they normally ask you!

Otherwise no discount for you!

This is not true - even if you scan it at the end, the subtotal will be modified to account for you getting the EDR discount. I've had this happen on a targetted discount with EDR (where they made a offer just for me by email). Got the full price, scanned the card, subtotal now reflected the half-price deal.

Yeah, after taking another read I might have read the T&C incorrectly....Mothers day lunch might have got the better of me:oops:

Woolworths customers enjoyed some not-so-everyday rewards after a technical glitch resulted in big discounts on some shopping bills.
The company said the fault affected both staffed and automatic checkout stations at supermarkets around the country yesterday and lasted for about half an hour.
Woolworths declined to give a dollar amount for the total losses but confirmed that some customers received unexpected discounts of $5 and $50.

Woolies red-faced after accidental discounts

Ha. Good one.

However, as one poster has said;

This is true.
I put this very same question to a WOW Manager a few months ago in BNE recently.
Reply - If it product is incorrectly scanned, you get the product for free.

My Fathers card had a birthday 100 bonus point no min spend anywhere. So I went to WW and got something on special and it scanned higher the sale price, I was given the item for free. I am not sure if that constituted a spend so I did another spend the next day just to make sure!
