I wonder if this means the advertised price will be the discounted price, with a smaller un-discounted price listed beneath, so you wouldn’t actually notice anything…?

Still, I’d rather more points (or for EDR to award points that are due without me having to chase them).

Good stuff - Coles, VA and all the others!

Just saw this on the news. Looks like this is in response to Coles MY5 discounts. No word what items will be discounted but at least 1000 items will get 20% off when you present your EDR card. Only thing I know is that Fresh Fruit, veg and meat will be excluded.

Just found a link on the EDR site.

They can make offers they don't respect it !!! They cheated me several times and when i asked them what's the problem, they said i have to give them my ticket for the proof. I decided now to stop buying anything in a Woolworth and my family too.

I am sure tomorrow people will be trying to work out how best to exploit the discounts on offer in combination with their bonus point offer. I am sure tomorrow at Coles they will be scratching their heads on how to combat Woolworths new offer.

Basically like what a few of the us chains have - specials pretty much only a member if you're a card carrier

Just make sure you get your EDR card scanned before they start scanning & not at the end when they normally ask you!

Otherwise no discount for you!

1- Copycats
2- The footprints are walking backwards
3- I'm not complaining about discounts. Might make some targetted bonus offers harder to achieve though.

I guess if you are trying to spend an exact amount on a specific product or product group then you'll have to factor the discount in before completing the transaction. This could mean just spending the minimum amount to get the maximum targetted offer will become a little more complicated but still achievable. I'm hoping to combine discounted products with targetted offers.

I am guessing the discount will show up either after the EDR card is scanned or when the checkout operator presses payment. The my5 discount activates when the checkout operator hits a particular payment button. Perhaps this new EDR discount will work the same way.

Have the TV adds or news said when the new EDR discounts will begin?

You should really be thanking Aldi. All this rubbish from Coles and Woolworths really just covers up all the other items that go up in price

As for these "extra special, extra simple" savings, no different to what they likely put in their catalogue specials over a month or two

By "forcing" people to use their everyday rewards cards, to likely, get the savings that would have already been offered is assists Woolies in getting more people signed up to the EDR card and then more people they can spam offers too

Tomorrow.

I said to my mother, they offer you savings on certain items to draw you in but then they make the money on the items they have inflated the price on.

I think your right.

I just had a look at what bread was on special with the discount. Only the Burgen brand was.

If you shop with a keen eye, you can pick up this bread for $3.99 on other days, without the EDR card discount offer.

I guess the real question will be whether you can get a double discount by using your EDR card. eg The item goes on sale and there is a further discount by using your EDR card.

You can do that with Flybuys MY5, but the 5 pick is so limiting.

Yep, I am

It's just the existing catalouge specials, recycled into a monthly routine but you HAVE to have an EDR card to get it.

It makes people feel special & increases EDR numbers

Nothing more, nothing less

Want to save real $, head to Aldi

Let me rephrase that:
you used to be able to pick up this bread for $3.99 on other days, without the EDR card discount offer

For what its worth my IGA has been offering member discounts on product every week way before Coles and WOW.
