Woolworths reviewing partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer.

At least you are geting emails. WW have stopped sending me emails completely! No personalised offers, no new catalogue notifications, no offers. And it's not as if I haven't been shopping there (well, shopping for specials - I do most of mine at Coles).

Are they trying to tell me something, or is it just the usual incompetence?

I think that they have done you a favour, less work deleting worthless communications. ;)

Or is rather we are both in WA?

um... at the last "administrative" pay raise that EBA staff got in Jan, there was a note that Woolworths might elect to revert to the base retail award.
I'm not sure how the Coles agreement got through. Someone at fair work should have caught that issue before it was approved.
I don't know what's going on with the Woolworths negotiations, but I suspect that the meat changes rolled out in Vic and parts of NSW over the past year might have something to do with the delays. There is a section of the 2012 agreement that requires Woolworths to consult and inform the union about any workplace changes (and placing major changes on a department that earns around 12-15% of a stores takings is major). They didn't do so correctly. The SDA was told that the changes would only impact on trade butchers, while the company then told everyone working in meat departments, even those who weren't butchers, even in stores without butchers, that every meat department position was redundant and that staff would have to reapply for, in many cases, the exact same job (in ACT/NSW, they paid out redundancies to ~80% of the trade butchers, then as soon as they were gone, advertised jobs for trade butchers).

I suspect WW got rid of instore butchers after following Walmart's example from way back.

One former Walmart store manager tells the story that after discovering a pro-union flyer in his store’s men’s room, he informed company headquarters and within 24 hours, an anti-union SWAT team flew to his store in a corporate jet. And when the meat department of a Walmart store in Texas became the retailer’s only operation in the United States to unionize, back in 2000, Walmart announced plans two weeks later to use prepackaged meat and eliminate butchers at that store and 179 others.

Email this morning.
"Hi prozac,
You have less than one week to earn your bonus $5 Woolworths Dollars on every online shop when you spend over $150. Hurry don't miss out!*
"

I am torn...

Yes I clicked the delete button no $5 for me.....and no online shopping for me!

Why would I spend $150 in one transaction for $5 WWD when I can spend $160 across 4 transactions for $30 WWD?

The Woolworths online offers are silly. They don't address the individual spend of the relevant customer.

I think Woolworths online have made bad decisions on how they run their incentive program.

I went to Masters and Woolies yesterday with a $500 eGift card that I had bought for $475 and 475 QFF points on Qudos. I appreciated the smaller crowds seeing Aldi has opened about 6 stores in Perth since last Wednesday. I am really hoping we can get a couple of Costco stores before the end of this century.

You can also use the cashrewards site which has the instant discount deducted from the payment. it takes you to a Woolworth's page so you can get the higher points offered by some Amex for supermarket spending.

At the moment it is offering 5.5% off the WoW gcs and 8% off the Big W ones.

Offer (the extra 0.5% off) ends tomorrow. Next stop on my morning's PC expedition.

On WoW offers - got 2 cardboard mailers for biggest 2 spending family accounts that had not spent anything for 2 months. Recycling envelope recieved them a few seconds after opening. Other family email offers had 40% the spend for 2x the benefit.

There still have not been any heads to roll on the marketing side in the top 5 levels at WoW.

I wonder if it was a "Board" sourced 'enhancement'?

It's something Coles did a few years ago. Then after a few months, when Coles figured out the changes weren't working, they rolled it back as much as they could. Woolworths did the same in WA as a "trial" 4 years ago when Coles did it. Then they started rolling it out in Victoria last year and parts of NSW/ACT this year. Coles is now in the process of doing it again.
It's mirrored on what they do in the supermarkets in the UK. Many of the upper level management in Woolworths came from one of the supermarket chains in the UK.

If this article in today's SMH is correct then QF is gone from the Woolworths rewards programme. It might well be that more customers will be gone from Woolworths.

I don't think the article implies that QF is gone, although it might as well be for the complete lack of any offers (QFF or otherwise) that I have received recently.

If you read the small print under the video it reads:

Woolworths have dumped Qantas in their revamped loyalty program, but is it better and how does it compare to Coles' Fly Buys?

The issue for Woolworths is that the program is rubbish, and it would still be rubbish if it offered Qantas Points. They tried to push the cost of the program onto the suppliers, who would have none of it. Then the offers made to customers were pretty non existent. If ever you want an example of corporate arrogance, then this program would have to be high up amongst the ones you could choose from.

I havent seen much evidence that the decision to 'reverse' to include Qantas amounted to much (accepting that main changes were due for second half of year)

Which reminded me to check: I had EDR points post Jan 16th but nothing since.

QFF partnership dropped by stealth?

That video and the text under it are pulled, unchanged, from an article posted last October when the program was changed from EDR to WR.

Confusion reigns. Australian Business Traveller seems to think the QF relationship will stay with a choice of points or Rewards pesos:

Perhaps one day Woolworths will make a decision.

There is no confusion. The video and text you are basing your assumption on is from 8 months ago when the program was changed. At that time, Woolworths had walked away from Qantas, while Qantas still thought they were negotiating the contract renewal.
After the public backlash, Woolworths went back to Qantas and inked a new deal where W$10 = 870 QFF points with an option to convert them coming mid year with targeted offers allowing a choice in the meantime.

There has been no announcement of that deal changing. However, there has also been no word on when the W$>QFF point convert option starts.

I used to play the WW points game now I try to shop at my local Ritchie's IGA and use my community benefit card to give back to the local schools and charities.
It just doesn't sit well with me to supporting such a greedy multi national for some measly Q points, I'd rather get my points by supporting great Aussie wine makers xx_
