5000 points for $7.95 = 0.159 c/p or 0.318c/QFFP. Pretty good! Very open to DMs if anyone has ways to recycle these, like the good old days...

Also wondering about auspost. Could pay a few bills in person but Optus and AGL don’t specify if they accept eftpos. Never even paid a bill at the post office!

The usual mix of ambiguity in the T&C's and staff ignorance, now supplemented with an inherent limitation, has put me on the naughty list.

Tried to buy 2 x $500 GC's this morning. Checkout chick couldn't do both in one transaction. Someone higher up comes over and can't override the system to allow more than $1000 purchase. That person also says that there's nothing in the T&C's about points only on first transaction, to which I agree but explained that I'd been stung before and there a vague qualifier regarding variable cards. Nonetheless she's adamant she cannot process 2 x $500 GC + $15.90 activation fee in one transaction. The system will not allow it. Nothing in the T&C's about that of course.

As I expected, unlike the first tx, no automatic points for the second tx. Checkout chick adamant that "they'll come through soon as per the T&C's" and that "you're allowed to buy two cards so they'll manually credit them because you had to do more than one tx".

Well, she was right. The points have been manually credited after I explained the situation. But I'm told that this is the second time that I've done this and it will also be the last. Apparently it's my fault that their system won't allow purchases within the T&C's.

I'm also told that I should have escalated to the Store Manager, who can authorise such a transaction. That person will also be getting a phone call apparently. Their other advice was to just buy one per day.

I'd expect loading the cards with $492 is a way to buy two at a time. Or use two accounts. Not sure which I'll do tomorrow.

"Limit of 2 cards per day per rewards member in a single transaction" seems to make it clear to me that you'll only be getting the points for the first transaction.

It wasn't clear to the two staff members, even after I mentioned my previous experience. I also thought previous versions of this also explicitly stated that points applied to first transaction.

Don't forget that I tried to do just as the T&Cs says. It was the system that said no, due to the cost exceeding $1000, so there are instances where one cannot make a purchase in accordance with the T&Cs.

No problems buying 2 x $500 cards in the one transaction for me this afternoon. Likely some staff have higher authorisation levels than others.

I note that I've also purchased well over $1000 in transactions previously without any issue.

I think you need to do $500 & $499 in one transaction...see if that works
Wont work, the transaction will still be more than $1000.
