This morning I used Woolies gift cards to buy a $500 Star card for $475 at my local service station.That means two lots of 5% off on fuel which together with Woolies rewards 4 cents and Myer One swipe gets fuel back to a reasonable price. I do love buying the RACWA Woolies gift cards on my Amex Platinum Edge card for 3 points per dollar.
The way I redeem these points gives me a total of about 30 cents off the 98 fuel I buy.

Were they physical WGCs or eGCs you used?

Those Star cards are advertised at my local Woolies service station as 5% off.
Ah ok so it's 5% *5% off which is almost 10% off. That's a great deal, when is the end date ?
I'm currently using the 7-eleven method from ozb which has been pretty good but it's not reliable.

Right now Caltex is 162.9 where I am and I've got 148.9 locked in with 7-eleven. If your deal is available to me, that 162.9 becomes 143.40 per litre + Myer pts.

You need plastic gift cards rather than e gift cards as the Woolies service stations in my area specifically nix the e gift cards. I buy mine thru RAC in WA and the physical cards come a week later. My last purchase was a biggie and I scored 3 points per dollar on my Amex Ultimate. I use those points for pointy end travel on SQ.
Myer One is just a small kicker and the 4 cents from Woolies Rewards is a minor sweetener.
98 fuel was $1.70 less 5% and 5% and 4 cents and SQ Kris Miles together with a teensy Myer Reward.
Before too long it will add up.

Just to clarify:
  • A Woolies petrol station with a Woolies shop will accept plastic or electronic GCs (but no Myer One, obviously);
  • A Woolies/Caltex petrol station with a Starmart shop will only accept plastic GCs but allows you to scan the Myer One card;
  • Both allow scanning of the Woolies Reward Card for a 4cpl discount; and
  • Woolies points can only be earned on the petrol spend at a Woolies shop.
:)

I need to investigate this for Vic.

I currently use 4c dockets plus 5% off using plat edge

Except some CaltexWoolworths petrol will not accept any WGCs nor eGCs as I found to my shock on a full tank fill up last year. Since then I always checl if it is a new petrol station I am using.

I found one caltex station that didn't accept egift or 4c docket

At least I got the 4 cents off - I don't feel so hard done by in comparison now!
I just signed up for myer one.
Will look for a caltex that accepts both egift and 4c :)

Edit: does it actually say myer card can be scanned at caltex or is it a loophole?

Genuine benefit at Starmart Caltex.
There are some unaligned Caltex that take neither

Not sure where you are located but the Woolworths Caltex on Inkerman St St. Kilda accepts both the 4c dockets (or your everyday rewards card if they are on them) as well as egc.

I though everyone knew about this and had been doing it since the shut down at the physical stores.

Um, no. Don't believe that it has been common knowledge and I think you'll find people have been keeping it quiet for a reason!
