Woolworths gift card thread

High theft? How? If they aren't activated, I can only see people possibly taking them to copy the numbers then put them back on the shelf and wait.. or am I missing something
No idea. I didn't see sense in arguing with someone like that.

The folk stealing them may not know that....

Thanks All. Should have clarified, I didn't believe a word she said. She sounded like she didn't know what she was talking about just wanted to "one up" me and prove me wrong.
Will keep searching, really need them for this weekend (large bill to pay).
Yeah you get a lot of them type of managers , especially when they say no. Gift card to gift card purchases
Which according to the t and cs is correct
But it seems the power gets to their head

I've had both staff and manager watch me like a hawk when I'm paying on self-service after theyve swiped their staff pass.
And as soon as they see Im Using egfit card, they start behaving like im about to blow the place up.

I just come back a few hours later ! And it's usually fine when that staff is gone

This proposed change will impact physical gift cards and the checkout process.

Competition and Consumer Amendment (Gift Cards) Bill 2018

The Bill would:
  • mandate minimum three year expiry dates for gift cards;
  • require gift cards to display expiry dates; and
  • ban post-purchase fees on gift cards.
The slip printed out at Woolies wouldn't be sufficient to comply. The date will need to be physically written on it seems - like Coles.

Woolies egift cards already seem to comply. All that would be needed would be for staff to physically write the expiry date on the card at POS.

What is a post purchase fee on gift card?

According the the explanatory material:

"The reforms will also prohibit gift card issuers from charging certain post-supply fees, which can erode the balance on a gift card over time and operate as a de facto expiry date."

Haven't seen one of these type before.

At least this would make it consistent across Australia.

For the record, Woolworths Spring Hill (Brisbane) has plenty Only1 in stock, and they're more than happy to process with EGC. Very friendly and helpful.

My largest local WW now has bits of paper stuck to the self-serve asking you not to use them to buy GCs. Previously it was the one least likely to cause 'trouble' locally.
Having said that, easy enough to use the manned tills-maybe they are protecting the iTunes scammees

It because sometimes on the rare occasion the cards are not activated, if this happens the staff need to do a manual refund onto another card.
Most people dont know this and they do not check the receipts for "successful" activation, and just leave then come back weeks later.

I just tell them im wasting the staff's time if im buying 1000s of cards and having to tie up that staff for hours lol
