Have a previously booked EK Reward flight booked out for August. But all the return ones got cancelled - and now nothing showing. Opinions?

I am seeing EK awards in using the standard booking tool and the multi city tool. Other carrier awards are also available.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

OK, I am only seeing flights from October onwards for EK. Must just be my selection of departure ports

As the detail in the OP is quite limited I just searched MEL-LHR then the same with multi city. The multi city was easier to find EK flights, I just picked a random date prior to 31 Oct ex MEL-LHR, see below, I did not bother to post the second leg as there were many options via various EU cities to LHR.

I have found quite a few EK business class award flights available later this year and earlier the next.
Sadly EK is not a OW member so can't be used as part of a One World Award.
I am aware that even if the airline doing the actual flying offers award seat availability ( as found on Expert Flyer ), other Oneworld members may have different and indeed ,QFF may offer different to either the flying carrier and other OW members.
A good example is Qatar flights early March 2022 , most days offer at least 2 J award seats from SYD and MEL (and on the 3 days a week) BNE but QFF only offers one only J seat!
Who knows who is to blame - does Qatar restrict access of their J seats to Australian frequent fliers using the QFF program ( because of that scandal some months ago ) or won't QF "pay" for them in the first place.
Other airlines are similarly involved eg Cathay and Royal Maroc - QFF availability regularly match that released by the originating FF program.

Our PM, SM has said Aust borders will not be (*widely*) open for a long while to go.
So, international airlines might still not be too keen to fly too much into Aust, unlike prior to Covid, and maybe only carry freight, or only carry freight one way in, and then pax out.
Except the Au - NZ travel bubble, people who want to come to Aust, need to either be Aust citizens, and then quaro, or Aust PR visa holders, or their close relatives.
QR used to fly daily into ADL, now not so often, EK has even stopped flying into ADL.
Any of those flights that do come into from Europe/other countries into Aust, whether they be EK or QR or other airline, might be one of them Covid evacuation flights, with seats costing a lot of $.
