Hello brains trust,

Seeking some advice from those more knowledgeable than me on some upcoming travel I have from Brisbane to Perth.. Prior to the delta spread I was able to commute between above two cities on widebody aircraft A330 or 787 with a good chance of decent seat selection and the extra comfort a wide body brings…

Recent searches show a complete lack of these aircraft no matter what day I search, seems to be plenty of A330 operating from SYD to BNE which makes absolutely no sense to me given the current COVID travel restrictions forced on that state..

Am I not searching correctly I'm looking for the right times..? if anybody could assist it would be greatly appreciated..

Crr..app! I'm booked on QF939 in a few weeks, 1615-1935h. It was an A330; EF now shows a B738.

EF shows QF945 on the same day 1915-2235h as an A330, so there do appear to be some A330s on that route.

Maybe there's some chopping and changing going on and the situation remains fluid.

Yeah I was having a look for this earlier (as I used to aim for the 7pm-ish A330 service) and couldn't see any across the week or so I was looking for. I assume it's all capacity remodelling as things reopen, but would hope to see the bigger birds back on the 5.5 hour flight home.

A colleague who flew BNE-PER yesterday said it was chockers.

Yes, a lot of changes on various routes. I sspect to fund 330'2 to go to DEL plus other routes coming on line (for example, ICN potentially). Plus there's a glut of 737's they can utilise to give frequency and of course with demand being uncertain depending on borders too.

(not) fun times.

Yes lots of changes.

Our daughter was booked to fly at 1pm on 24/12 and then shock/horror - Qantas CANCELLED the flight and transfer her to the only direct flight that day 9am, which she can make because of work commitments.

She is now on Virgin 1pm departure.

QF is also brought forward by 4 hours her departure time for the return trip on the 28/12. This actually was okay.
