Why two different e-ticket receipts for same flight?

Recently I made three bookings thus:

1. MEL-AKL (under region AU on qantas.com)
2. AKL-CHC-AKL (under region NZ on qantas.com)
3. AKL-MEL (under region NZ on qantas.com)

I duly received e-tkt receipt (as a pdf attachment) for booking 1 from Qantas ITR.

I then received e-tkt receipt for booking 2 (no attachment, all in the text) from QANTAS EXPRESS TICKET NZ INTERNET

I then received e-tkt receipt for booking 3 (same format/sender as booking 2)

All of which is what I expected.

Then into the inbox pops a 4th e-tkt receipt, this time same format and source as booking 1, but for the AKL-MEL booking (no. 3).

Same e-tkt number for both. But here's the rub:

Cost for receipt from NZ issued by Qantas Airways Auckland: NZD188.10 (this was the cost of the fare I booked).

Cost for receipt from AU issued by Qantas Airways: AUD188.10 (this was definitely not the cost of the fare I booked)

Charges have not yet shown up on CC but I'll be very interested to see what they are - AUD, NZD or even hit twice!

Can anyone offer an explanation as to why this has occurred? I cannot recall if I've ever booked AKL-MEL from "NZ" before (I've certainly checked fares and considered it in the past).

tuapekastar,

Previously I have made similar bookings the way you mentioned without issue. I have not seen anything like this though.

Book MEL-AKL from the OZ web site you get the '.pdf' e-ticket receipt that we in Oz are all used to.

Book from the NZ site and the e-ticket reciept is the TTY (Teletype) style.

I believe the .pdf's are generated automatically; the TTY style requires manual intervention.

Now when a booking made on the Oz web site is altered for some reason (change of flight time) or otherwise, a manual copy is sent to you - in the TTY format.

Assuming all the bookings are for you, I suggest you look them up under your FF account on qantas.com, or use the LAN E-Ticket print utility.

Either of these should show the $ amounts that are on the PNRs.

Thanks chaps, on qantas.com under 'Your bookings' it's showing NZD188.10, which is reassuring.

Still does not explain what happened, something of a mystery! The 4th e-tkt receipt arrived very shortly after the first 3 - I certainly had done nothing other than make the 3 bookings.

BTW, I've never been able to get that LAN thingy to work. My Spanish not being what it used to be, I presume I just plonk my ticket number (with a - between 081 and rest of the numbers, as per the example) in the bottom left box, and my surname (I also tried name as per ticket) in the bottom right box, press "Buscar" and the right thing should happen? 'Cause it doesn't - I get a message "Debe indicar un número de ticket válido" that I presume says something like "Gringo idiot - get it right!" Actually I think it may say invalid ticket number...I may run it through a translator when I get a chance.

Like tuapekastar, I made, on 26-12-08, a CHC-SYD-MEL booking on the QF NZ web site. Also received 2 email's: one text and a 2nd with a pdf with the cost listed as AUD. However on checking online my ANZ Visa has been charged the correct NZ $ price.

Have often booked on QF NZ for flights NZ-Au using an Au issued CC. QF NZ never used to send the 2nd pdf. Did not get the 2nd pdf email when I did the same for an early Dec flight, that was booked 2 days before the flight.

tuapekastar:
Be very careful with that CHC-AKL flight. QF NZ are notorious for running late. If the AKL-MEL is the same day check the Air NZ or DJ timetable so you can have a backup flight. You may need it ;)

Thanks for the warning Mwenenzi! :)

They are same day; I've deliberately left a generous connection window (3hrs 25mins) between scheduled arrival and departure AKL, but your advice is sound and I shall certainly acquaint myself with possible backup options.

First set your LAN cookies to Inglés australiano:
Them click on the E-Ticket Link:Finally, do not use you ticket number - use "Search by booking code". Employ your Amadeus booking references. (Ticket numbers are iffy with this).

Sorry to drag it O/T but this has never once worked for me... i have no idea why, would it be because 95% of the time i have travel agent issues Amadeus bookings and not QF ones ? Even when i asked QF what my Amadeus booking code was for an AA issued ticket (the segments not on AA) i still had no luck.

I have about 5 current booking in QF my bookings booked different ways but just checked and they dont seem to work. To add to that checkmytrip does work so it must be the correct reference i am using.

OT:

When first released, the LAN utility worked for any booking I tried including BA, AA and QF.

It no longer works with ANY AA ticket numbers or Amadeus PNRs relating to AA ticket numbers.

Methinks some entities like AA decided it revealed too much information, perhaps some agencies as well.
