Ok. He and a bunch of other people are waiting outside Qantas terminal to catch a bus to take everyone to the Travelodge in Docklands. The bus is there but the driver doesn't know why he's there.

Ok. Driver has boarded them. 9pm and still at the terminal.

And get this. When he turned on his phone on landing in Melbourne, there was a nasty message on his phone telling him that he had to board immediately or he would be refused boarding to Adelaide. Nice Comms Qantas. He played it to the service desk who took notes and will ring him tomorrow with an apology.

On the 7am flight tomorrow.

Ok. People are disembarking the bus because it's not moving and catching taxis.

Good grief.

Sounds a shmozzle - when he gets back and calms down (I would be ropable!).
Love the way QF Comms works - obviously right hand doesn't know what left hand is doing! Sounds like it's going to be a long night.
Have a drink for MrP as well!

Would be seriously unimpressed at this stage! It should be a seamless process - pax missed connection, rebook pax for next flight, book pax into hotel, arrange transport maybe in shuttle type service if many pax, pax taken to hotel....voila! How hard is it?

ill guarantee there was no communication between JQ and QF regarding this, they had no idea where he was in the system when that ADL flight boarded.

Bus is now moving. I was on the phone to Qantas and they said all their systems were down? I just said that was reassuring!

And yes, Brisbane of course. :p

Sounds like a right stuff up then. Am I wrong in thinking that QF HBA staff should have been proactive in altering MEL staff about connecting pax that would be coming in late? Or that some back office ops team should have been all over this the second the decision to move everyone to JQ was made?

Have a feeling I have read this read before, but it was in BNE......
Or was that the time the flight was diverted to OOL then waited for all hours - told they would be bussed to BNE, then took off, landed to a dark terminal no taxis, no transport, no nothing.

or another one like this?

Well that would be a good plan, wouldn't it.

I was on the phone to 131313 trying to get a number to get the bus moving. They could see all his diversions and delays and transfer to JQ. Said they wouldnt hold up a plane for delayed pax as that would inconvenience the 100+ people onboard. Seems to me they will have spent a lot of money on hotels and food tonight.

Now. I trust he will get his correct status points.

That's the one, irrops happen, but it's how they are handled that makes all the diff.

I can't see the harm in holding a flight for a short while if it's the last one of the night. But then I don't have the economics of the cost of the delay (paying staff overtime, Ect. vs bus & hotel).

I've been on a couple LAX-SYD flights which have been held up to an hour for connecting pax. It's definitely not impossible.

Yes, we've been held over too for flights where the waiting flight is the last flight/only flight out etc. I can understand not doing it during the day when there are other options but not when it's the last flight out and is only 15 minutes away.

As many you will know - HBA + Qantaslink = Delays. Ask Melburnian1, he regularly posts delays/xxl nearly every day now. The change over was mid April and it is becoming wide knowledge at Tourism Tasmania and hotels around HBA that pax's first or last impressions of our state is delays.

I was delayed going to HBA last Thursday...seems from reading here it is the norm. Does anyone have details of the number of delays to and from HBA since Qantaslink took over? In my case the plane was there...just waiting for the crew to arrive on another...you guessed it .. coming on a Qantaslink flight from Hobart!.
