Looking to book "J" fare ex-BNE to HKG for Jan '11 trip preferably oneworld

HKG hubs into China and therefore has more demand than BKK I would have thought, and less flight options ex Aus.

MH has a fare of $2961 plus taxes of about $394 to HKG ( so approx 3355 total ) which seems to be about the cheapest option

Hong Kong is a major business city, whereas Bangkok is not.
More suits fly to Hong Kong, hence airlines can charge more for J.

As the why has already been answered, here’s the why not :p

While it costs more to fly direct to HKG, if you have time on your hands routing via BKK and picking up a cheaper CX J fare from there would give you more SC’s to help for re/qualification ;)
