stand up to disembark as soon as the seat belt light is turned off. :confused:

I have a laugh every time you see people standing hunched up in their seat space waiting to get off when the plane is unloaded in seat order.

I stay seated until it's my rows turn and off I go.
 
I do so almost immediately because I have a muscle condition and I can't just get up and walk. Usually trying to do so either has me falling over or standing their blocking the way. So I need to stand up first to be able to walk semi-normally off the aircraft. It is also not really an option to wait because people getting off see me stand up, don't realise it'll take me about a minute to move and then try to wave me out in front of them. Very polite, but difficult for me. Yes I feel stupid and it is rather annoying when in a window seat.
 
For the following reasons:

* People take their entire personal possessions as carry on, so my carry on inevitably ends up away from my seat. If I don't jump up straight away, there's no way I can get my bag (if its behind me).
* People are generally rude, so if you aren't up and ready to go when it is your row's turn, you can end up not able to get out until the last row has disembarked.
 
If im in an isle - not often, I get up straight away because I want to and dont give a rats about anyone laughing at me because I did! :cool:

A better question would be "Why do idiots insist on undoing their seat belts as soon as the wheels hit the tarmac?" I've even seen someone make a dash for the toilet whilst still taxiing to the gate! Sometimes I really wish the aircraft would need to make a quick stop to teach these idiots a lesson.

One of these days I'll sell my idea to an airline for a system that automatically tracks any seat where the seat belt is undone before the seat belt sign is turned off, and automatically charges $50 to the passenger's credit card as a fine.
 
If I am in a Y or PE seat then I stand up ASAP because I have a sore bum.
 
I get up instantly, usually once the seatbelt sign is switched off I'm the first up. Sitting in row 3-4 means I will be standing at the L1 door waiting for it to open.

Sure some look at me funny, but if I plan it efficiently and put my bag in the right way. I can pull it out and off I go. It's nice to have a little 30 second chat to the crew before I go.... Good to keep up to date on the gossip. ;)

What does annoy me...

Why do people still not know how to go through security. I've stood behind somebody at OOL because they tried to bring the 24 piece cutlery set through security.

This I can't stand. The majority are respectful, but some will see an inch and barge through before letting the window passenger out in the row ahead.

Also, people who block the aisle and not allow others to try to get their stuff from the overhead bins, which helps speed up disembarking.

So when I sense someone on the barge, I will make sure I step into the aisle quickly and take pleasure if that means I bump them back a notch, and make sure everyone knows how pushy he/she is.

By overall agree I chuckle at all the hunchbacks in the window and mickle seats.

Remind me to tell you the story of the (American) passenger at MCO trying to get through security with a BB gun ... "What do you mean I can't take this on the plane with me?" :rolleyes:
 
I think you should temper the question slightly for people in rows 15/35 and back. If I am in row 6 I get up quickly so I can be off the plane and not stuck behind someone going very slowly...

Also I have been stuck sitting down for an hour and want to stretch - why is that a problem for someone else?

Its the same as at the baggage carousels...

There is usually a line on the ground a foot or two back from the carousel where people should stand and wait which allows others further down the line to be able to see when their bag is coming down the conveyor and also space for people to pull their bags off and down etc, but no, the halfwits immediately rush up and stand right next to the thing blocking the view and blocking access as if its going to get them their bags a bit quicker...

I pity people who have to work with Joe Average public sometimes, they really can be trying...
 
It's a lot like lounge etiquette as well.

You don't have to take 5 scoops of egg and all the bacon in the J lounge.

The beer doesn't run out so you don't have to inhale it.

They will keep bringing it out.

I hate how people will put there bag down 5 rows behind where they are sitting and then want to go and get it and still get off with everyone else or yell to the person near there bag and want us to crowd surf it to them.

So as I joined the security screening line, I noticed the woman 2 ahead of me had a bright red BB rifle in her hand. I quickly scooted into the adjacent line so I could observe whilst lowering the risk of collateral damage if the TSA decided to go Rodney King on her.

She got to the x-ray machine and said to the TSA agent, "do I put this in here?" and he said "yes, but you won't be getting it back at the other end". I stifled a laugh and missed the rest of the conversation except for "but it's only a BB gun, I thought it would be fine"

I seriously wanted to ask her if she'd heard of a little event commonly referred to as September 11 ...

I am almost without exception in an aisle seat, and usually unbelt and stand up as soon as the sign goes off. Couple of reasons for this - I've been sitting for between 1 and 15 hours and really want to stand, and I like to get my luggage out of the overhead and be 'ready' when people start to shuffle off the plane. I'll often grab down bags for the middle/window seat pax in my row while I'm at it. I'm quite happy to allow all rows in front of me to disembark first - no bully-boy rampaging down the aisle here! :p

I share casanovawa's frustration with people who crowd the carousel...so not necessary. :evil:

Security in BRU last month someone tried to get through with 12 jars of Nutella... "But it's not liquid!" is the only thing they were repeating all the time trying to get them back
 
Because if I don't stand up and press the bell, the plane will take off without letting me off.

P.S. Sometimes I also really need to go to the loo.
