Good morning

The answer may be staring at me in the face, but is anyone able to tell me why VH-OQH, the refurbished A380 operating QF18 out of LAX on Saturday 21.12 returned to LAX?

thanks so much

Because it got frightened of crossing such a big ocean.

No, nobody here has claimed to have any information at all. What makes you think the fact that the cabin has been refurbished has any relevance?

I’ve read some comments across various media platforms that there was a smell of smoke in the cabin. Problem must be rectified as VH-OQH departed LAX last night as QF12 at 2329 and is currently about 25 minutes away from arriving in SYD

The gist of which is that there was a strange smell/fumes. Someone makes a guess at a bleed issue, but that's only a guess, and there are solutions to that. Plus it isn't the only potential fumes source.
