Just received this email from Qantas. "Fly Business on Qantas and enjoy the benefits of our personal service with a friend or two. ENDULGE with dedicated check-in ........." . Don't this mob have spell check or did they pay attention in Grade 6?? I think who ever is responsible for this gross spelling mistake should be fired long before the engineers. [redacted]

Like the coffee shop in Hervey Bay advertising cupuchinus-I had to ask and it was meant to be cappucino.

Spelling mistakes are everywhere. Get over it.

But I lost a post:evil:

In all seriousness, things like this shouldn't happen.

Shouldn't that be "doesn't this mob have spell check or did they (fail to) pay attention in Grade 6"?

(Wondering whether we may legitimately use such a crass version of mobile vulgus, or is doing so in fact worse than a spelling error?)

;););)

And shouldn't "who ever" be a single word?

.. There was a sign at front of Movieworld today... taxies > this way! Embarrassing!

Often the problem is using spellcheck witch of coarse will only pick up spelling errors, knot errors of comprehension.I could keep going on this four ours......:D

English spelling has been downgraded in Australian schools and texting by kids has created a new short form communication.
C U L8R style.

Totally off-off topic

Sadly, cove, this is not a recent phenomenon. We Baby Boomers had to learn some words by heart (accommodation, hippopotamus) as well as knowing the 'demon' words - there and their, its and it's, bought and brought, were, where & we're, etc etc etc. (and don't start me on times tables!). Or on singular and plural, eg Harvey Norman are having a sale, rather than is. If you weren't sure about spelling, use a dictionary, now isn't that a novel notion! Somehow it became less important for the next generation (Y?) so now this lot (X?) have no hope. So....I guess we have to take some responsibility for allowing the importance of spelling and grammar to wane. However if you happen to be able to spell well, as I can, it's infuriating to see the howlers which get printed in books, newspapers and magazines. My all-time personal favourite is 'shammy' !
Right, that's it, I have officially turned into a grumpy old woman.......:D

we should not have these spelling errors as we should always be double and triple checked for all media for accuracy and also spelling

Was just going to go through all your posts and point out your spelling errors. Then, I realised that would take too long after going through a couple.

I think my position can be best summed up by reviewing just one sentence from your OP.

See, eg, "did they pay attention in Grade 6?". I think you mean "did they not...".
