That fee would be for SYD only - with my dom flying last year I would have racked up more than $10,000 in airport taxes alone just for Sydney!

I thought $1500 was cheap compared to that. Other airports could offer the same program. Depends where you fly most - and I landed mostly in Sydney so I used it as an example.
$10,000 in SYD airport taxes for domestic flights? You must do nothing by fly.

Current SYD charges for domestic flights are:

WG $3.00 (Safety and Security Charge)
QR $4.53 (Pax Services Charge)

So to rack up $10,000 you must have an awful lot of flights to/from SYD.

My apologies! Sorry I must be including charges which are not airport related!

Well going on NM's charges... MacBank could charge say $100 for the year-long pass as opposed to $1500!!!

Maybe the fees and charges are more airline related and less airport tax. So why do the fees and taxes seem to be so significant? Do the charges apply for departures and arrival?

ie A Sydney - Melbourne Flight
1 x Sydney departure fees
1 x Melbourne arrival fees

1 x Melbourne departures fees
1 x Sydney arrival

Bingo we have a winner :)

The $1500 might go some way to covering the QF fuel surcharges for the SYD-BNE trip ;)
