Re: Who on AFF are the cruise gurus and what are your preferred cruise lines and ship

I have been bad again and have been re-banned from cruising. But only for 6 months this time, and only if I behave between now and then.

I understand your pain. It is so very frustrating, isn't it.

So what did you do that was so naughty to get you banned ????

hmmm, banned? Sounds interesting.
I am yet to do my first cruise, but the interest is growing.

Didn't you have a similar issue a couple of years back when you were booked on QM2? Hopefully you'll be back on the water again soon.

I'm thinking heart issues again?
The gold medal goes to Puskha.

I was good for 19 months and after a break for the first 6 months we managed 2 trips to Melbourne, 1 to Singapore, Hong Kong and Shenzhen and, of course, the wonderful 27 day cruise from Fremantle to Hong Kong via Australia's East Coast on the Queen Elizabeth. The absolute highlight on the QE was being upgraded to the Princess Grill for the 21 day section from Melbourne to Hong Kong.

My daughter and I are booked to go to Europe in October/November including a cruise from Rome to Dubai. The issues there were that we were going to Egypt and Jordan amongst other ports and the specialist said no way. Flights with QF, QR and BA were all booked; hotel accommodation booked except for 2 days in Rome and the cruise deposit was paid.

I will be putting insureandgo to the test; my premium was over $1000 to cover all pre-existing conditions. So I expect a good outcome.

My husband and I are also booked on a 21 night cruise on the QM2 in March which goes from Hong Kong to Hong Kong to Singapore. If I am good for 6 months then we can go on that cruise. Unfortunately, my husband is not very keen at this stage. He prefers that we book the QM2 from Fremantle to preferably Melbourne.

There is a good 13 day itinerary from Fremantle to Fremantle via Melbourne on the Sun Princess in December but I think that is a little early.

Overall, prognosis is good and we did very well over the last 12 months.

My plan, as usual, is to travel more when I can.

Oh dear. I understand the risks of travelling to exotic locations. Doctors are so loathe to 'allow' travel. Almost cried in the Haematologist office when he ummed and ahhed about me on a short flight in Australia 4 months after DVT. Told him I had to cancel Alaska and he relented.

Love_the_Life and I shall wave to you as we board QM2 in Singapore headed for Dubai in April.

I will also be using insureandgo.

We have cruised up and down the spectrum of lines...Crystal (including the new yacht) and Silversea for the most part though. So if anyone is looking at those options, let me know and I can share the ins & outs!

Re: Who on AFF are the cruise gurus and what are your preferred cruise lines and ship

Have done a number of cruises on various lines, azamara, Royal Caribbean, princess , p &o, Costa, carnival, carnival USA, Oceania, about to do a Uniworld river cruise, have racked up over 100 days at sea and stayed in everything from a junior suite to an inside - love cruising!

If you choose your cruise line and cabin then yes :)
The cruise Pushka was referring to was onboard a freighter doing a mail run through the Great Lakes - don't think they serve coughtails on that one.:)
