Backward southern states - or the redneck one (Texas)? I think you are fairly right, it will be either the southern states or perhaps something in Washington D.C.I doubt there’d be anything you’d see going-on in northern states, it’d be the more backward southern states where something might go down. IMHO at least.
A week before will probably be OK (based on what happened last time) - the day before might not be such a good idea.I'll be in Washington DC about a week before Inauguration Day ... and I'm just a little apprehensive about it!
Well, if you're right, my space-themed trip to Texas, Florida and DC in January includes all the hotspots!Backward southern states - or the redneck one (Texas)? I think you are fairly right, it will be either the southern states or perhaps something in Washington D.C.
Florida should be OK - bit hard for the locals to riot when everyone is using a Zimmer frame. Texas should have either calmed down or run out of bullets by January so that should be OK, so you just need to worry about D.C. One kind of gets the feeling that if Trump loses this time then it will make the riots etc last time look pretty tame.Well, if you're right, my space-themed trip to Texas, Florida and DC in January includes all the hotspots!

I think avoiding the U.S. during that few days around the U.S. election might be a sensible move - there is just too much craziness there waiting for an excuse to go wild.Maybe I should avoid being in the US in early November.
I was in DC just before the 2016 election and departing DFW on a DFW-DOH flight on that Tuesday.
16 hour connection in DOH and watching Al Jazeera at the next boarding gate as the results were coming through.
