Who else still holds the Citibank Free For Life Premier Card?

This is what's called WINNING.

Thankfully I got the complaint in quick enough to be resolved and the points manually added, and then they went ahead and did the auto adjust as well on top. Sometimes it's hard work being this good, it really is. Now I just have to find something to redeem some of them on because holding over 2 million rewards points in one place is probably not the best idea.

What it means of course is that everyone who thought they were doing the smart thing by anticipating the shafting they were going to get from MyCard on 1 Oct and moved all their reward points out to 'protect' them from the inevitable loss, has actually shafted themselves massively by removing the points from the very scheme that was going to reward you for keeping them there. That's an own goal of epic proportions.

I can't help but think this was possibly planned for by MyCard in order to sow the necessary distrust into their card holders by deliberately keeping them in the dark and not telling them what was going to happen to their points on 1 Oct. The not knowing would panic the herd and cause them to redeem or transfer their points before 1 Oct thereby removing the points from the very system upon which the calculation would work out how much compensation was due in terms of pro-rata points to maintain overall value. If this was a plan based around known human psychological behaviour to be averse to loss at all costs, then it was very cleverly executed and I have no doubt worked extremely well, judging by the people in other forums who are now crowing how they 'beat the system' by transferring their points out before the change.

What they've actually done of course is short change themselves massively and let MyCard off the hook of giving them free points by removing their balances to another holding system be it Velocity or Krisflyer or FlyBuys that isn't going to give them any bonus points at all. Face meet palm!
Hey! Really happy for you to get the double bonuses and able to stick it to them! Really happy a player was able to beat the house. Was going to like your comment about the win for the little people!

However didn't like the tone of your paragraph after though as it reads more like a "look what I got, you guys suck for hedging your bets prematurely". I understand this may not be your intent but it comes across as such.

I just wish what Legoman said is true, about NAB.

Having worked in, and still work in, large enterprises and multinationals, household names, I have never had the time and resources to do the mind games and psychology described, it's always marketing team to spend the budget and activation, commercial team to drive the pricing in order to meet budget set by New York London Germany Sydney. I don't think I have had, or seen anyone, had the luxury of time and resources to design a mind game.

So if Legoman is correct, then NAB would be a good and fun workplace to be.

And also impressively speedy and agile in executing a changed plan in response to his pressure. The personal bonus seems within their execution capability, sizeable as that bonus was. The everyone bonus, like wow, being brought forward seven weeks and up sized. Go NAB.

You would be well advised to keep your snarky remarks to yourself, because it was my very aggressive actions threatening them with AFCA cases that put the wind up them to stem the bleeding
I doubt anything changed, because the NAB has done what they said will be done. Online chats with the lowest level bank employees who have no inside information on what management might be 'conspiring' doesnt reveal anything. That you got double points is more likely a goodwill payment to make you happy, doesnt mean you were right

I genuinely don't even know what's going on anymore with MyCard. With no notice whatsoever, they've credited my points balance again on 12 Oct with another 410,835.00 points called COMPENSATION. This is after and in addition to the 318,504.00 points called One-off Points Increase 1Oct26 credited on 6 October. Not that I'm complaining obviously and I won't be asking for an explanation of where they came from or for what purpose, but the only conclusion I can make is that someone picked up the AFCA points devaluation lie submission I made and without asking anyone else in the admin department, just went ahead and credited a whole bunch of points to shut the situation down so it didn't escalate. That's my only guess.

nice position to be in Legoman, but at this point it’s probably better to xfer out before a potential reversal
Oh you read my mind. I've just added 155,000 FlyBuys points to my account to bring the total in MyCard down to only 6 digits instead of 7.

I'm slightly nervous that a huge number of points in any points system (be it Flybuys or MyCard) will show up on someone's end of month report listing large balances as a liability and invite questions like where they all came from.

I have already experienced this with Flybuys. When you reach certain balance thresholds in Flybuys, they clearly notice, because you start getting auto-offers to redeem them in large chunks so they can get them off the books as a liability. I'm cautious for this reason about loading up Flybuys too much. I've also had checkout staff ask me how I've managed to accumulate so many points which generally come with side glances and facial expressions.

410835 points, even at 1c per point, that's $4108.35 AUD. I don't know what business you work in, but in businesses I worked at, $4000 is nothing. If we undercharged a customer by $4000, or paid a customer $4000 too much for a rebate, we just leave it, because $4000 is not worth the hassle associated with trying to do a reversal in say SAP, and having to have a difficult conversation with the customer saying we need to deduct / ask them to pay back $4000.

Anyone who have worked with finance should know: issuing a credit (giving a customer money) is easy; doing a debit (taking money from a customer's account) is freaking hard.

So don't worry about it. No one is going to flag you over $4000. It's a small amount, and no one would be this stupid to make themselves having to do a manual misc debit entry into your account.
